There are many things you have to do for others no matter how averse you are to them, you will understand this in time.

If you expect the slightest thing from anyone you are made to feel as if you are a parasite, a person so demanding it is impossible to have a relationship with you. So I learnt to throw most of my expectations out of the window.

Preetha’s hand creeps across the table and briefly touches mine. ‘Who needs men anyway?’ Her tone is neutral and I pick up from that and smile. Women who had reliable men can say that with so little thought. I would not dare to be so careless.
