Nothing like attempting to fight your way out of a deadly situation while trying not to flash people.
Then he’d gotten himself blown up. She’d done all the work, including most of the almost-dying, while he lay in intensive care.
She let Lyre touch her like that all the time. Then again, she did also try to hit him a lot. He was just better at dodging.
A second dragonet clung to the shower curtain rod, staring at her with pale yellow eyes.
One half-naked, unarmed girl was no match for two well-armored daemons.
Desperate times called for desperate measures. Gritting her teeth, she yanked her towel open. Their gazes dropped. They knew she wasn’t naked—her bra straps had been showing the whole time—but they had to check. Men.

He smiled easily. “Don’t worry. I never disappoint a lady.” She nodded politely, gritting her teeth. Was Miysis flirting with her too? She needed an “I don’t date daemons” button. “Neither do I,” Lyre added suggestively, confirming her interpretation of Miysis’s remark. The incubus purposefully brushed against her as he passed. He was clearly unconcerned by the guards, his one-track daemon mind now focused on her. His fingers tightened and he boosted her up until her toes only brushed the floor. Her breath hitched at the sudden movement. He pinned her in place with his body, radiating heat.
she was looking out a window thinking she could see the whole world.
Glamour and illusion were two completely different things. Illusion tricked the eye. Glamour tricked reality.
He carried her out of the room in a sort of reverse piggyback ride. A piggyfront ride?
She hadn’t been that turned on. Really. It had just been the adrenaline rush from having a predator taste her neck as though he wanted to taste her blood. Not sexy. Definitely not.
Then again, Ash had given her one more extremely motivating reason to make it back.
He was gone. Out of reach. But he was safe. He was free. She would take comfort in that.
