‘Let’s have the baddish one first,’ George said. ‘I prefer my misery to come at me in stages, so I can acclimatize on the way.’

He will go into the dark. The second: He will sacrifice his life for you.

‘George,’ Lockwood said, ‘you’ve worked wonders. I don’t know what we’d do without you.’

‘No, he isn’t.’ The tiny shake of the head made the world tilt under me. ‘Lockwood,’ Holly said, ‘it’s bad.’
