“My grandma told me there are only two types of decisions: decisions made out of fear and decisions made out of growth.”
For instance, do you stay in your job because you are afraid you won’t get another job? Or do you stay in your job because you are excited about the growth potential there?
Success doesn’t mean money if it causes misery. Success is every day, feeling contentment. Contentment is every day:
Improving your relationships *Improving your competence in something you love *Improving your freedom
“Nothing is permanent in this world, not even our troubles.”
“I like walking in the rain, because nobody can see my tears.”
“A day without laughter is a day wasted.”
There are two ways to learn: passively and aggressively.

Bruce Lee said, “I don’t fear the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks. I fear the man who practiced one kick 10,000 times.”
“Don’t be sad when you fail and happy when you succeed. Both are going to happen again and again at every new level.”
EVERYONE AT THE TABLE IS YOUR FRIEND BUT THEY ARE ALL LYING TO YOU TO STEAL YOUR MONEY.
IF YOU FIND YOURSELF PLAYING A GAME ALL DAY—ANGRY BIRDS, OR POKER, OR CHESS—ASK YOURSELF: WHAT MIGHT BE WRONG IN MY LIFE?
IN POKER, YOU WANT TO SIT IMMEDIATELY TO THE LEFT OF THE DUMBEST, RICHEST PERSON AT THE TABLE (THIS GOES FOR ALL SORTS OF WAYS TO MAKING MONEY).
POKER IS A SKILL GAME PRETENDING TO BE A CHANCE GAME.
Read as many books as you can that were written by players better than you. *Study hands and the analysis of those hands. *Study and think about your mistakes. Don’t regret your mistakes. You’ll always make mistakes. The better you are, the fewer mistakes you make. The only way to get better is to thoroughly analyze your mistakes. So the more mistakes you have, the more opportunities you have to get better. Of course, this applies to everything you do in life. *Talk to people smarter than you. Try to learn from them anything you can.
BE THE BANK.
“Always be the bank. If you’re the source of everything at the table, then it makes it harder for them to bet against you.”
HOW TO LEARN
You have to study the history
study books on how to play the opening in chess.
You have to play and be willing to lose in order to learn more.
HOW TO LOSE
Talent is a spark that lights the fire. But the fire needs constant fuel to get bigger.
I would come up with more candidate moves. More ways to make things look confusing. More ways to scare my opponent into tripping up.
‘OK, here’s where I should paranoid. And here’s where I should relax. But occasionally, here’s where I should trigger someone else to be paranoid.’
One language united us, which was the language of chess. Even when I was much older, I could be friends with 15-year-olds because we would play chess and analyze the games together.
WHAT TO DO RIGHT NOW *Find your Plus. *Find your Equal. *Find your Minus.
Did I improve 1% physically, emotionally, creatively, spiritually?
Or we can live life like we are going to live forever. So we have all the time in the world to learn and live all the things we love.
Today is the first day.

Read
Write
Take your favorite author and type your favorite story of his word for word. Wonder to yourself why he wrote each word. He’s your mentor today.
Very important: There’s no rush. You will reinvent yourself many times in an interesting life. You will fail to reinvent many times. That’s fun also.
THE CHOICES YOU MAKE TODAY WILL BE IN YOUR BIOGRAPHY TOMORROW.
THE CHOICES YOU MAKE TODAY WILL BE IN YOUR BIOGRAPHY
Make concentric circles. You’re at the middle. •The next circle is friends and family. •The next circle is online communities. •The circle after that is meetups and coffees. •The circle after that is conferences and thought leaders. •The circle after that is mentors.
The circle after that is customers and wealth-creators. •Start making your way through the circles.
