Weird. Perhaps this guy is a little … slow.
“Don’t be weird, don’t be weird, just be normal,”
“Oh no. You’re one of those?”
A girl with blue and purple streaks in her hair and weirdly shaped scars on her hands who hints that she may have been brought up on a pirate ship is intriguing. A girl who swears you to secrecy before telling you that her brilliant scientist parents are trying to prove time travel exists and she’s on her way to witness them testing their very own time machine on a human for the first time is intriguing.”
“Well … I … like …” Guys with messy hair, cute dimples, and charming British accents. DO NOT SAY THAT OUT LOUD!
“Don’t look down, don’t look down, don’t look down.” It makes me smile because it reminds of the things I like to chant to myself: Don’t be weird, just be normal. Say something, say something, say something.
And that does not make me a stalker. Everyone does this. It’s just one of the ways people get to know each other in the modern age.
“I thought I put sunscreen on, but I must have imagined that part.”
Adam: You shouldn’t be asking yourself why Matt still wants to be with you. You should be asking yourself why you still want to be with him.
A bird is safe when it’s closed in a cage, but it isn’t living. It isn’t flying. You have beautiful wings desperate to stretch out and catch the wind.” He steps closer to me. “Don’t. Let. Anyone. Stop you.” “And what happens,” I whisper, “when I fall?” “Then you have someone waiting to catch you,” he says gently. “That’s the right kind of safe.”
“Why are chick flicks so pathetic?” she moans. “There’s always some helpless woman who doesn’t know what’s missing in her life until some hot guy shows up and basically makes her feel like her life is worthless without him. He gets all macho if another guy shows any interest in the woman, which is apparently attractive instead of being, you know, creepy, and the woman falls all over him thinking how lucky she is that he picked her.” Sophie throws the remote onto the couch and stands up. “Ugh. Puke.”
Sarah: I was breaking up with him at the time.
Sarah: I named a character after you. Aiden: Seriously? Sarah: He dies halfway through the book.
this is also about the fact that I hate what I’m currently studying.” “Oh.” Mom looks less impressed now.
But there’s a tiny yet persistent voice at the back of my mind that keeps whispering something. Fly. Be brave. Take a chance.
Aiden: Of course. The only place I’ve wanted to be since I first met you is at your side.
Aaand the sunbirds are doing crazy happy flapping all around my insides.
The sunbirds have burst into flame.
WHY ARE YOU SO FAR AWAY?!
“Well, he’ll always be Zoo Biscuit to me.”
“And stories and zoo biscuits and biltong.” “And feeling safe.” I rest my head against his shoulder as he wraps his arms around me. “The right kind of safe.” “The right kind of safe,” he murmurs. “Even when you have no idea where life will take you next.”
