A to-do list without deadlines is a wish list. Nothing more. Without deadlines, we lean toward inaction. Deadlines do more than just impose a sense of urgency.
The only way to complete any project is to first break it down to its constituent parts. A project is moved forward by working on the individual tasks that are incumbent to its completion.
There’s value in choosing the precise verb that defines the task. Again, be specific. Will you call Bob or email him? Will you text him or stop by his office? The right verbs encourage execution. They encourage you to take action.
You have a million things to do today (not to mention tomorrow, next week, and next month). It’s not possible to remember all of them. Nor is it possible to organize them effectively in your head. The solution is to make to-do lists.
