Teachers should plan the cogen around a meal or a snack. This immediately sets the tone of the dialogue as one of sharing and fellowship. Teachers should make every effort to have food available for the students once they arrive, and create a space where students are comfortable breaking bread together. The teacher can either compensate the students for their time by supplying a snack, or have them bring their lunch to the cogen (if the meeting takes place at lunchtime), but sufficient time should be allowed for eating together. This alleviates tension and supports student connectedness.
