To the ones who pour out their souls and ask for nothing in return—I hope you find someone who would wage war on fate itself to give you the world.
Elessia was the most kind-hearted, loyal, and pure soul he’d ever met. Of course she’d be fucking worthy.
Before he’d met this wildly loyal, pure, kind, intelligent, and beautiful woman, little had been able to provoke him.
Merrick snapped his gaze to Raine, but he still didn’t miss Zaddock snarling “If you die on that ship I will come to the afterlife and haunt you for fucking ever, and then we can talk about possessive.”
She was the only thing he cared about. In this world and any other. Everyone and everything else could burn or drown or be demolished, for all he cared.
“I don’t care what she wants.” Merrick shoved Raine’s arm off. “I don’t want to live in a world where she doesn’t exist.”
“I know she inspires every person she comes across. She is the fucking light of this world! The purest soul. The kindest. The strongest. A leader, a friend, a lover, a woman, a Fae, a human. But it’s almost too late. I can feel it!”
Not that he’d change a thing. He loved her. Utterly and completely. With every dark corner of his mind and heart.
“Hi,” she whispered in a voice so broken it sounded like someone else’s. Fuck, it hurt just to listen to it. He loved her so damned much. “Hi,” he urged back. “Hi. I love you. I’m here now. You’re safe.”
“Please. I nearly lost my mind the past few days, so please allow me to be an overprotective bastard. Just today.”
“You’ve fought so bravely for so long. Please. Please just fight a little more.”
“Please,” Merrick whispered when he finished, his hands moving to cup her cheeks. “Fight a little more for me?”
“As soon as I saw you in that fucking cellar, I was yours. Perhaps even before. Perhaps I’ve always been yours, and I’ve just been waiting for you to come into my life.”
“Like this one, I want yours and mine to be the same. You are mine. I am yours. That’s just how it is. The good and the bad and the pretty and the ugly. We will fucking share it all. That’s how it was meant to be, and it’s how it will always be. I want the world to fucking know it. I want everyone I ever meet to see that every part of me—every dark corner of my soul—belongs to you.”
He’d seen her mere seconds ago. But still… it was like seeing her for the first time, whenever his eyes had rested somewhere else but on her.
“So fucking responsive,” he said hoarsely.
“You’re so fucking good,” he praised. “I love it when you take what you want.”
He’d known it the first time they were together, but this female would be the end of him. The absolute fucking end.
“Come here.” Merrick reached out a hand. “Let me make you feel good.”
“You like this?” He tilted his head upward, watching as her cheeks colored. Merrick’s low laugh rumbled through the room. “Of course you do. My little fighter likes her man on his knees before her. Likes to see him serve her like the goddess she is.”
“Do you want to hear that I’d do anything for you? Do you want to hear that I’m going to fuck you in this place, making the gods of our world watch as I please you, as I submit to your every command?”
“My name,” Merrick purred. “You scream my name when you come.”
