Allison knew Kevin too well to think he was concerned for her well-being.
In May both Nathaniel and Neil would be gone, but in June this picture would still be here. He'd be a tiny part of the Foxhole Court for years to come. It was comforting, or it should be.
He felt winded, like he'd survived a half-marathon. He felt strong, like he could run another five more. Panic threatened to tear his stomach to shreds.
Andrew tugged Nathaniel's hoodie and said in German, "Get rid of them before I kill them."
"I have to go," Andrew said. "I don't trust them to give you back."
"I told Neil to stay," Andrew said. "Leave Nathaniel buried in Baltimore with his father."
"You didn't seriously kidnap Jean,"
Did you know I've never been skiing?
"I'm going to be the deadliest piece on the board."
Fight because you don't know how to die quietly.
"I'd ask you how it feels, but I guess you've always known what it's like to be second, you worthless piece of shit."
This was everything he wanted, everything he needed, and Neil was never letting go.
