To be blessed is to have the power to prosper and succeed. That’s what blessed means: empowered to prosper. The blessing is an empowerment from God, who, in essence, said to Abraham, “I will empower you to prosper, to succeed. Not only that, but I’m going to give you an abundant increase of favors.” The major characteristic of the covenant is the blessing, and the major characteristic of the blessing is favor.
