You can either discipline yourself, or you can let Christ do it for you. If you do it, He does not need to do it. You discipline yourself by keeping your heart tender and teachable before the Lord, and by keeping His commandments. To the degree that you walk in obedience to His Spirit, you diminish His need to chastise you.
