I haven’t hooked up with anyone in months. Months . I’m starting to wonder if I’ve forgotten how to talk to girls altogether.

He rubs his forehead, groaning. “Forgot my sister started school today. She’s on her way to campus right now. I should go help her out, make sure she doesn’t get lost or end up in some weird frat house.” Austin perks up immediately, his eyebrows practically launching off his face. “Another Hayes on campus? Damn, is she cute?” Nathan spins on him so fast that Austin flinches. “Doesn’t matter,” Nathan growls. “She’s off-limits,” he warns, his eyes scanning the room. “If any of you fuckers even think about touching my baby sister, then you’ll have me to deal with. I’m serious. Hands off. All of you.” I smirk, not fazed by his warning—monk routine and all that.

When I turn around, I’m met with the sight of a girl, her hands clutched to her mouth in shock, but it doesn’t hide her big brown eyes widened in panic. Fuck, her eyes are pretty.

“I told my roommate you were kinda cute, and she thought I should come talk to you, so she gave me a nudge, and…”

I can’t help but grin, a smirk tugging at my lips.

God, she’s gorgeous. It’s been so long since I’ve felt that electric buzz at the sight of a pretty girl. Her eyes, her lips, her hair—fuck, I want to run my fingers through it.

She blushes, and I feel my pulse quicken at the sight of it.

She laughs, a light sound that’s cute as fuck.

I nod slowly, my gaze slipping down her body—those legs in that denim skirt, smooth and perfect, and that tight black lacy top that makes it hard to focus. Fuck, she’s a sight. My fingers brush across my lips, trying to hide the smile that creeps up.

fuck, I can’t look away from her. Her smile’s got me hooked, and for a second, I forget where I am. My chest tightens, and my mind goes blank. Her lips, the way they curve—fuck me, I want to kiss her right here. Right fucking now. She leans back against the table, hands gripping the edge as she gives me a look that damn near stops my heart.

I glance at her lips again, heat crawling up my neck. Fuck it. I’m going for it. I take a step closer, lowering my voice as I place my hand on her hip, resting it there.

I lick my lips, closing the distance between us, and⁠—

I glance back at Ryan, still watching me, his gaze lingering as he sizes me up. God, that look. It sends a jolt through me, reminding me of how close we were just minutes ago, his body pressing into mine, the faint scent of his cologne still in the air, his lips a breath away.

Ryan chuckles, his eyes locking onto mine again, and the space between us seems to vanish when his knee nudges mine.

He flashes a grin that seems to stretch just a little too long, and I catch myself staring at the way his lips curl. The ones I almost kissed. I swallow, forcing myself to look up, but his eyes catch mine, steady and warm. My pulse quickens. I lean in a little, just enough for him to notice the way the air shifts between us. I catch the faint scent of his cologne, mingled with the hint of alcohol on his shirt, and it’s a heady mix that makes it hard to focus.

He shrugs, taking another sip of his drink.
