To the sunshines, never stop shining even when there is no light. You are the light.
He turned his back on me. Just like I did to him.
“Why didn’t you choose me to be your date?” Carter asks as he follows. “Is it because I have a dick?” “It’s not because you have a dick; it’s because you are a dick.”
Monikat liked this
“I love the way you are when you’re with me,” he whispers. “The way you let me see you, inside and out. The way you trust me completely. You’re so…pure,” he says after searching for the right word. “You’re too good for me, Adam.”
He’s the pure one. He’s confident. Kind. Loyal. Loveable. Smart. Funny. Ambitious. Protective of those he loves. Determined to get what he wants out of life. Despite everything he’s been through, he lives every day with a smile. He’s the sunshine after rain.
“I still love you,” I whisper, wrapping my arms around his neck. “I loved you even when I hated you. Even when I thought you’d given up on me, I never stopped loving you.”
I don’t know what I did in a past life to deserve him. I sure as hell haven’t earned him in this one, but I’m going to work my ass off paying my dues to whatever or whoever gifted him to me. Fate? Destiny? Dumb luck? I don’t know, and I don’t care. Easton is mine. That’s all that matters.
“I’m serious, Adam. Why do you refuse to see how perfect you are?” I swallow. “Why do you care so much about this?” “Because I want you to love yourself as much as I love you. I want you to see what I see when I look at you.”
Maybe it wasn’t fate, or destiny, or dumb luck that won me this sweet, perfect guy. Maybe it was Easton who looked at me one day and thought, Him. I want that one. And the universe said, Not sure why, but whatever.
