“Seriously, Gracie. He looked at you like he wants to eat you.”
Firm-and-commanding Felix is very sexy.
Talk about creating unnecessary trouble for myself. Nothing like creating a cheating scandal when the only thing I’m “cheating” with is books.
Someone needs to tell this man that if being kind and considerate and charming makes him weird, he needs to lean in for all it’s worth. Because it’s working.
But honestly, you could invite me to try competitive duck herding and I’d still want to go if you were going to be there.
“Texting, huh? You think that could actually be more exciting than Brahms’s complete catalog?” He holds my gaze, his expression turning flirty in a way that makes my stomach swoop. “Only if the texts are from you.”
Felix: There’s just been this person I’ve been thinking about a lot lately… Gracie: It’s Brahms, right? He can be so distracting…
I reach forward and hook a finger around her pinky. Only her pinky. One tiny finger, and my heart is galloping out of my chest like a freaking horse at Churchill Downs.
A brush of her arm against mine, my hand on the small of her back, her foot nudging mine under the table. But even these small gestures are ratcheting up the tension between us. If I don’t kiss this woman soon, I might lose my mind.
“It terrifies me. But I think it’s supposed to, Felix.” She leans down and presses a lingering kiss to my lips. “That’s how we know it’s good. When we’re already scared of losing it.”
Her nose is slightly pink with cold, her eyes are bright and happy, and I’m…falling in love with her. The realization hits me with peaceful certainty, spreading through me with comforting warmth.
