“Spark the flames, Ever.” “Ignite the infernos,” I answer automatically. “Ash the embers,” we both say at the same time, a small chuckle escaping us as we finish the chant we’ve exchanged back and forth since we were kids.

The horns, ridges, and scales of Aeson’s inky black armor begin to peel back, revealing his face. He kneels in front of me, strong hands grabbing my hips, and before I know what he’s doing, the commander leans forward and licks the thin line of blood from the scratch on my thigh. Heat blooms low in my stomach, and I try to jerk back from the searing touch of his hands and tongue. He tugs lightly at the end of the ponytail I just haphazardly threw up, tilting my head back until I’m looking up at him. “If this place is doing it for you, Claws, wait until you see my private gym.” His smile is impish and he releases my ponytail and taps his finger under my chin to close my mouth. I didn’t even realize it had dropped open.
“Arms the butterflies?” I ask as I join the keyed up huddle. “Yes, it’s the security measure Nixy programmed at your request,” Azo tells me. My head snaps in the direction of Nixy’s semitransparent visage. “Do the butterflies shoot lasers?” I ask excitedly.
“Come now, mate. I thought you liked my dirty mouth,” he purrs, and I swear I feel it in my fucking clit.
“Cut me. Hurt me. Destroy me. I’ll happily bleed for you, Ever. Every drop is yours already.”
