There are realities we must face, an empty purse being one of them.
I weep.
that rattled me the most I suppose, seeing him standing there among the dead. But it wasn’t him. The young man looked nothing like him, only he had a way of standing that I could have sworn was… The initial moment is always the cruellest, the rush of recognition, and dare I say joy? Then the stranger turns and is just that, a stranger.
While there are many things beyond our control, I’ve always thought the cruellest is that we mortals are not told when our last glance is just that.
