“Are friends supposed to hold hands?” I ask, keeping my tone playful. A grin tugs at his lips. “Yes. Friends can definitely hold hands.” “People are going to think we’re dating,” I warn him. Shaking his head, he locks eyes with me. “I’ve told you before. I don’t care what anyone thinks.” Right. Maybe I should start doing the same.
“Our bond is the most important thing to me, Alchera. I live for you, and I’ll die with you, but I will never leave you.”
“I’ll always take care of you. Your needs and safety come first.”
“Our souls became one when we were bonded. You’re my other half.”
“No one comes before you. I’ll never marry. My life belongs to you.”
“We live together. We die together.”
“You are mine,” his growl echoes through me. “Every part of you, Alchera. The only way I can heal you is if you let me in.”
I love Alchera, and over my dead body will I share her with another man.
“You are the only being that matters to me. I will sacrifice everything I am for you.”
“When I say there’s no one more important to me, I mean in every aspect of my life. Only you matter to me.”
“I’m not kissing you to heal you. I’m kissing you because I want to taste you.” My tongue dives into her mouth. “Because I desperately need to claim you as mine so no other man can steal you from me.”
“Forever’s a really long time,” I chuckle. He shakes his head. “And still not long enough with you.”
“None of us know how much time we have,” he murmurs above my head. “It doesn’t help to live in fear, my little dreamer. We just have to make every second count.”
“You’ll never have to find out. I live and die for you.” He closes the distance between us, and when his mouth takes mine in a tender kiss, his voice is a soothing balm in my mind, “Only you.”
“You’re my entire being, Alchera.”
“I thank Awo that I exist to be loved by you.” His words are like a soothing balm, dulling the sharp edges inside me. “You are my everything.”
“I’m your home. Your place is with me.”
