“But yeah, she’s one of them. She be fuckin’ with Shaun anyway.” My brows dipped hearing that because I did recall them ducked off to the side a few times talking. “The foreman?” “Hell yeah. They been fuckin’ around for a little minute.” “How you know that?” “You know how niggas talk.” He chuckled. “Plus every time that nigga hit, he be in here spreading the word like polio.”
“Hell yeah, he be saying that the pussy—” “Ay, that’s enough,” I bellowed, not able to help it. I didn’t quite know if Alana was like that or not, I had my concerns considering I had just seen her out with a man that wasn’t ol’ buddy, but I still wasn’t going to let anyone talk about her like a hoe around me.
Vi’Shaun looked at me and smiled. “I don’t think we’ve had a chance to speak yet. I’m Vi’Shaun.” “I’m eating,” I said, ignoring the hand he extended. “What’s up?” He glanced around to see if anyone noticed me curving him as he slowly pulled his hand back, trying to laugh it off. “Okay, like that, huh?” he asked and I shrugged. “Nothing personal.” “It’s fine. I get it.” He chuckled.
not this nigga feeling some type of way. noah literally said he was eating and couldn’t shake hands smh pretty niggas for you
“Please.” He laughed. “Alana knows better, trust me. Me and her both know what she really wants and that shit is in the palm of my hand. So being with anyone other than me won’t ever happen. Trust me. Plus, how could I worry about my girl wanting you when your own parents didn’t?” He smirked. “I read—”
She was right. They raised me better than that. Anytime I wanted something, I got it by any means necessary. I never waited on my parents or family to make anything happen for me. I made it happen.
“Um, Noah,” we heard Vi’Shaun call out from behind us. “Who cleared it for you to take the day off? I didn’t submit any kind of approval.” “I cleared it with the boss,” Noah replied. “I am your boss.” “I cleared it with your boss.” Noah smirked. “Apparently he’s happy to do anything in regards to making his Sugar happy.”
“I’m going to have to remember how quickly you came up with that lie in the future.” Chuckling, I hugged her body a little tighter. “I don’t lie, baby girl, but you looked so pitiful I had to.” Looking down at her, I used my index finger to lift her head so she was looking at me. “Lately you’ve had me doing a lot of things I normally wouldn’t.” “And that’s a bad thing?” She smiled. That smile. That beautiful smile! “Not bad, but not good either,” I admitted. “You have the power to bring me to my knees already and we’ve only been married for a few hours.”
“Anyway, I don’t think he’s into me like that.” I sighed, falling on my bed. “Why? I thought y’all liked each other.” “We do, at least a little, but I don’t know… He doesn’t even try to kiss me or anything.” I slapped a hand across my face, thinking I sounded stupid, but it was legitimately how I felt. “There have been so many times I wanted to kiss him, but he didn’t make a move.”
“It’s stupid, I know. I should have hung up on her before…” My sentence was cut short by the softest, gentlest, juiciest set of lips I had ever felt. I was stunned but quickly fell into the rhythm of the kiss when I felt his tongue slip past my lips. I had been waiting for this, craving it damn near, and he wasn’t disappointing me either. I hadn’t been kissed like this since… ever.
“Naw, actually she didn’t,” he admitted disappointedly. “According to her, life happened and her plans changed.” My strides paused. “Excuse me? She didn’t? You stayed to put her through school on your own and her ass isn’t doing hair.”
exactly what the fuck i said too like you made this man give up his dreams to pursue yours and you ain’t even doing the said career you wanted 🙄
“What’s not real between us, Alana?” Reaching for my free hand, he placed it over his heart. “You feel how fast my heart is beating?” I nodded. “It’s like that every time I see you or hear your voice. The reason for the union may be business, but the way you make me feel is very real, beautiful. This isn’t just business for me.”
“Damn.” He perked up some. “Got your walking papers already, Tate? Serves you right. I didn’t think you were a good fit for the position anyway.” I smirked, ready to wipe that smug smile right off his face. “Me either. I think CEO or your boss fits me a little better.” His smile quickly disappeared. “What?” He frowned. “What are you talking about?” He looked from me to Alana’s dad. “What is he talking about?” “He’s taking over,” Mr. Powers clarified. “He and Alana recently married and…”
As I did so, a familiar voice caught my attention. Lowering my menu, I allowed my eyes to roam the room until they landed on someone and confirmed my suspicions. Meka. Seeing Meka didn’t move me in one way or the other. I was out with my wife. But seeing who she was with had me a little perplexed.
“Bishop,” I called out to get his attention. He looked up at me like a deer caught in headlights. They were posted in the very back of the restaurant where the lights were a little dim, probably to be discreet, but I knew Meka’s laugh from anywhere as well as my father’s build. Plus his hat only covered half of his face.
“Naw, it’s gon’ be you too or we gon’ have a big, big problem, beautiful,” I let her know as I pushed inside of her place, shutting the door behind me. “I don’t disrespect you and I have no intentions to, so you gon’ run me mine in return. If there’s an issue, say that, and let me fix it. I don’t do these little elementary games and temper tantrums. You’re too grown and too pretty to have your face all frowned up.”
“Not me. I love to curse. It’s like seasoning salt for my sentences,” she replied and we fell out laughing.
“This is only the beginning, baby. Come on.” He led me inside of the bathroom and stopped in the center of one of the hearts without candles surrounding it. He untied the strings that circled my arms before pushing each of the straps from my shoulders. “Tonight.” He kissed my shoulder. “I want to cater to you.” He kissed my other shoulder then looked me in my eyes. “I want to wash the day off of you.” He kissed my lips. “Then I want to make love to you.” He kissed me again. “Can I?”
“What you need to do then? Because you a married man and ain’t got no buns.” I didn’t offer a verbal response to his ignorance, I just smirked to myself. “Wait, what’s that?” “What?” I feigned ignorance. “Naw, nigga.” He grinned and turned completely to face me. “You got some pussy?” When I still didn’t say anything he exclaimed, “Nigga! When?!”
“No, what you’re doing is disrespecting my husband,” I let her know. “I’m sure you’re used to talking to and about him in a fucked up way and he allows it because for whatever reason he loves you, but Mrs. Tate, I do not share that sentiment and will fuck you up for playing games with my man, okay? He’s a good man that actually came from a pretty shitty family, but he has me and mine now and well, I’m sure you know what comes with being a Powers, right?” I smirked. “So, when it comes down to my husband…” I stepped a little closer. “Well, just don’t let it come down to my husband. Okay?”
“So what about Powers Construction? Are you still planning to step in and take over the reins?” I shrugged. “If he needs my help, I’m there, but if not, I’m going to allow him to do his thing.” “Whattttt?” She palmed her chest and leaned back, acting all dramatic. “Not Mrs. Powers Construction herself saying she’s not going to be the HBIC.”
“Elijah, aight, what you expect?” I paused in the middle of the aisle. “You slept with the mother of his child and y’all were basically brothers. You think you deserve to stand up there with him?” I frowned, thinking of where me and my brother went wrong to have these kinds of disloyal people surrounding us.
“Naw, how you know me or Kaori ain’t tell her?” “Because I know y’all better than that.” “You shouldn’t have married Alana then.” “What?!” “You heard me, nigga. Sis solid as fuck. I know that and you should too but since you don’t, you don’t deserve her. Maybe she need to go be with that pretty boy nigga you put to sleep. He would probably appreciate her.”
