Killing my abusive shithead of an ex-boyfriend, Carter, wasn’t supposed to spark this urge inside me. It was meant to be a one-time thing—and he had it coming.
Gage tucks his hands into the front pockets of his jeans as he walks backward towards a motorcycle, only taking his eyes off me to tilt his head and grin at Lana before his gaze locks back on me. “Goddamn,” Lana murmurs, echoing my thoughts the first time I saw Gage. “That man wants you so bad. Are you gonna fuck him?” “Probably,” I
Fuck, she’s perfect. Carefree, living life on her whims and letting nothing stand in her way. Jillian Hart couldn’t be more perfect if I designed her myself.
She’ll see that there’s no escaping me, no amount of money that can sever our connection. There is no other option—I’m an omen of the inevitable. Jill will love me, crave me, breathe me. She’ll feel me rooted so deeply inside her she won’t know where her soul ends and mine begins. She’ll be for me. Just like I am for her.
“You’re staring again,” Anders says. I never stopped. He knows that. I could sit here for the rest of the night without moving an inch, just watching her breathe, and not regret a single second.
“You think you can handle all of me? I’m a lot of woman.” “Let’s get one thing clear.” He inches closer to tower over me, his eye contact deeply intentional. “You’re my warmup weight, Jill, so watch that pretty little mouth of yours and remember who you’re talking to. We’re made for each other. I’m the only man who will ever be able to handle you the way you deserve to be handled.” His eyes dip lower, trailing down my body like a caress. “All of you.”
“Christ, you’re a fucking dream. My walking wet dream.” My pussy throbs with desire, already so wet and swollen, more than ready for him to fill. “Look at this pretty pussy, already crying for my cock.” “If you don’t fuck me right now, I’ll go find someone who will,”
A man will tell you whatever they think you want to hear in order to fuck you, but he’s wasting his breath. I’m already going to let him fuck me.
“Now,”
“Get on your knees and open that pretty mouth for me.”
“Such a pretty little whore on your knees for me.”
“Fuck, you’re hot when you’re angry,” he states, eyes raking over me hungrily. “I would’ve changed the schedule a lot sooner if I knew that meant you’d be in my office looking like this.”
“Little devil, you’re nothing but trouble. And I’m made for chaos.”
“A knife,” I’m so fucking turned on. “You don’t have to flirt with me, Menace. I’m right here.” “You’re everywhere,” she says. I’m everywhere she is. “And I always will be. You were created just for me, Jill. There’s no escaping me, escaping this.” “Who says I’m trying to escape?”
“I just finished meeting with the DJ for next month’s event. And now you’re here. Come have a seat,”
“I already told you, the chairs around here aren’t built for bigger bodies.” “Look again, little devil.” His words take me by surprise. “There’s not a single chair in my club that can’t handle all of you. Not anymore.”
“Happy?”
“Very.” He replaced every single chair in this entire club—for me. All because I made one comment. The thought has warmth rushing through me as a small knot forms in my stomach. I
“Stevie said you’re on a ride.”
“I am.” A motorcycle engine revs as if to prove his point. “We pulled over.” “You had the entire Chained Saints Motorcycle Club pull over on the highway so you could answer the phone?” “You called, so I answered,”
A look of contempt flashes across her face so fast that anyone else would’ve missed it before her sultry smile—but I didn’t. That’s when it hits me. This isn’t a date. It’s a hit. Jill isn’t going to fuck Vince tonight. She’s going to kill him. Adrenaline floods through me at the realization, the excitement seeping into my veins until I’m intoxicated.
This changes everything. Instead of watching some asshat paw my girl and plotting his slow and painful death, I get to watch my Jill do it. And she does it so beautifully.
“Who do I need to kill?”
“Just hold me,” I say pitifully. He leans down to press his lips against mine, kissing me softly. “I am going to hold you—I’m going to hold you, hug you, and kiss you until the smile is back on your face. Then I’m going to hunt down the reason for your tears and laugh while I destroy it.”
Jill releases the crown with a pop, the sinful smile returning to her full lips. She’s trying to kill me. But, fuck, that smile gives me life.
“No more games, Jill,” he says, and I feel it so deeply in my chest it almost hurts. The discomfort is delicious. “There’s no life without you, and I’m done wasting time pretending there is. My dark soul’s found its match. I’m here to collect.”
“Soulmates?” The word leaves my mouth softly and it tastes good on my tongue. “Soulmates, twin flames, my other half—call it what you want. We’re created for each other. I knew it the moment I laid eyes on you.”
“Now tell me you’re mine.” “You’re mine,”
“I am.” His deep voice washes over me, his dark gaze piercing the soul that’s now entwined with his. “Until the heavens crumble and there are no more lives to be lived.”
“What do you think?” I ask, batting my eyes at him. When he finally moves, his hand runs over his mouth, and he slowly shakes his head. “I don’t like to give Heaven credit.” His voice is rough with reverence that bathes me in praise. “But the angels knew what they were doing when they created you.”
“I want to know how.” “How?” Gage repeats, confused. “How you knew I was the one you wanted,”
“The moment I laid eyes on you, it was undeniable. You’re mine.” “Where did you first see me?” “Helix.”
“You were dancing in a tight little dress,” he continues. “I couldn’t take my eyes off of you. Then you turned around, and I saw the fire blazing in those breathtaking eyes of yours. Suddenly, everything in my life made sense. Every decision in my life had led me to that moment in that club. To find you.”
“You love me, don’t you?” The unspoken truth calms my restless soul
“Love you? From the second I laid eyes on you, there has been an itching in my veins that only the sight of you can ease. Without you, the world has no art, and I have no purpose.”
“I don’t just love you, Jill. I worship you. I bleed you. I am for you.”
“I love you, Gage,” I state, my eyes telling him just how much I mean it. “I don’t exist without you to see me.”
wait for both hands to wrap around the metal, his arms raised, to make my move. My knife pierces him just under his ribcage with all of the anger that’s been building inside me my entire life. All of it comes to a head in this one moment as I shove the blade through his muscular wall as hard as I can.
Tommy is dead. Actually dead. And there are no more questions about what happened to him. I killed him.
“Oh, don’t you worry your pretty little head. When I ask you to marry me, there won’t be any choice but to say yes.” One of his hands cups my face, his thumb tenderly stroking my face. His dark eyes remain connected with mine so deeply I can feel our soul ties tighten. “Cut me, fight me—hell, you can even kill me—but don’t ever fucking leave me again. You are my soul, Jillian Hart.”
“I love you, Gage Lawless. Forever.”
