“Compassion falls before thy destructive force.”
"I'd kiss the ground you walk on if you gave me such a gift." "You already do. Do something else."
"Can I burn him?" I said. "Just a little. Maybe he'd be nicer." "No," he said. "You promised no maiming." It was my turn to grumble. "I am regretting that decision."
"I don't find quips or innuendos about my wife humorous, Iver, and if you make crude comments about her again, I will no longer concern myself with being your ally. I will have your head, and then I will have your city."
If he were lightning and death, I was the grounding rod.
Just don’t pull a three-day fuck fest again. My poor eyes can’t take it, and I don’t think the castle would survive either.”
“I’ll race you,” I said with a smirk. He frowned and peeled my arms from around him. “Dianna, do you truly think me immature enough to—” Samkiel took off running, not finishing his sentence.
I walked over and leaned against Reggie’s shoulder, doing my best at wide-eyed innocence. My hand grabbed Reggie’s chin, and I squeezed. “I mean, look at our faces. Do you really want to say no to us?” Samkiel rolled his eyes and dropped his head back, a soft, breathy chuckle leaving his lips. “You’re lucky you’re cute.” His eyes cut to Reggie. “Not you, Reggie.”
You are my priority. I may be a god, but you are the altar at which I worship.”
“It’s the only way,” he said before his foot hit my knee hard enough to send me to the ground, and his hands snapped my neck.
If I died because I had to fight for Kaden’s life, I would be seriously unhappy in the fucking afterlife.
Beings dream of paradise, of everlasting bliss when they eventually die and leave this life, but that’s what she is to me. I can’t imagine a world without her in it,
I’d love her until my bones were ash. When my soul left this realm, and if Death was so kind as to allow us to start over, I’d find her in every life after and love her still.
“The world around us is on fire, and you two are shoving your tongues down each other’s throats. I’m honestly not the least bit shocked.”
I pledged my loyalty and love to you long before we ever met, and loving you was the greatest gift of my existence. There is nothing I would change, and I don’t want you to be anything other than what you are. I know what you will be, Dianna, and it is glorious. Please know, no matter what happens, I would do it all again.”
Tonight I would weep, but come first light, I would rage.
The woman who had given her life to a stranger in the desert to save her sister, who had her heart ripped out for the world, who sold her soul so I’d live. She was not a monster. She was a dream, and I’d be a nightmare for her.
