I felt the resurgence of an ancient medallion reformed, one I destroyed long ago.
Kaden and Isaiah stumble closer to a truth I wish to keep buried, and all I can do is watch.
With Death’s head turned, I was able to slip past his gates to the land of the living. My mission? Find the woman Samkiel worships and see if she can be the undoing of secrets I wish I had spoken before my demise. I must make her see, or I fear all hope shall be lost.
You’re the King of the Otherworld. Umemri.”
She held someone more precious to me than a throne or a crown or the air I breathed. Dianna was more precious to me than any world or realm. I would sacrifice it all for her and not think twice about it.
“You, therefore, I, tool of gods, decimator of those who walk or slither. Made of light, made of wind. Swords so sharp our foes shall bend For in a war between gods, no one wins.”
I may wield Oblivion, but it seemed Dianna controlled it. It responded readily when she was in danger, and it had since the first time she was taken from me. Now, it retreated, easing like a compliant beast beneath her touch.
“Think of the children, Dianna,” Cameron scoffed before pointing to himself. “And the sexless.”
"I don't find quips or innuendos about my wife humorous, Iver, and if you make crude comments about her again, I will no longer concern myself with being your ally. I will have your head, and then I will have your city."
At my touch, the temper he hid so well slowly dissipated. If he were lightning and death, I was the grounding rod.
“Ew?” He arched a single brow and dropped my hand. “Countless warriors, kings, queens, and beasts have braved this cavern in search of the gift that chalice holds. All have died, their bones riddling the ground in proof of their failure. You reach the prize, take one look, and say… ew?”
When it comes to you, I’ll always choose you, no matter the consequences. The world can burn, and the realms can fall to destruction. If there is ever a choice between the two, I need you to know that neither the crown nor the throne means anything to me. None of it would matter without you. It’s always you. You are my priority. I may be a god, but you are the altar at which I worship.”
He would not want me to choose him over the world, but was he blind? How could he not see he had become just that to me?
“I love you.” I pulled back, my lips only a breath from hers. “Only you. Until there is nothing left of me, and even then, my soul will still know yours.”
“The prophecy remains.” “One falls.” “One rises.” “It was foretold and will remain.” “One carved from darkness.” “One carved from light.” “The world will shudder.” “The end begins,” they said in unison.
“You have already given too much, and he’d never forgive me for hurting his little girl.”
