It was unacceptable, all of it.
“Just turn the TV on and leave me to die,” he moaned, closing his eyes resolutely. Leave him to die? Kai would not. He could not.
You have an actual demon at your disposal, Sascha. One that looks at you like you’re his precious fucking treasure.” Um. He did?
I’m not human, Sascha. I don’t need your mortal reasoning to know what I want. I run on instinct.” He stepped toward Sascha. “On desire.” Another step and he was close enough that all Sascha could smell was that spicy, smoky scent. Kai’s voice lowered almost to a whisper. “And what I desire…is you.”
And while Sascha’s softness was part of his appeal—his tender emotions, his delicate features—it was becoming increasingly clear he could be taken from Kai at any moment. Unacceptable.
Was it any wonder Sascha wanted someone’s full attention on him, even if that attention came with demands? He needed to be wanted. And damned if Kai didn’t want him.
But Kai was smug. How could he not be? Sascha was taking him so well, his body accepting Kai’s perfectly, as if made for it. Kai had known it would be this way. He was going to get Sascha addicted to fucking a demon. To fucking this demon.
Sascha was starting to think this demon was a bit of a perv.
“What do we care if your brother heard?” He sounded smug again. Had he done it on purpose? A perv with a voyeurism kink, perhaps?
“And because it’s part of you, and I wish to know all parts of you.”
“We must have different definitions of the word,” Kai murmured. “But no matter—I will spoil
“I want to permanently bond our souls because I wish to stay by your side,” Kai said easily.
“I would very much like a mate bond with you, Sascha,”
But when I’m with you, Sascha, I am…soothed. Content. For perhaps the very first time in my existence. It’s the way I would like to feel, going forward.” He pressed a kiss to the back of Sascha’s hand. “I will not regret.”
Well, that was lovely. That was just so fucking lovely. What was Sascha supposed to do with that kind of loveliness? Fall in love and live happily ever after? Was that even allowed, for someone like him?
“You broke me last night. And my ass is a national treasure. As such, it must be protected.”
“Perhaps you should see if they fit,” he crooned. “And then come back to bed wearing them.” Oh. Oh. Kai was into it. Like, really into it, judging by the way he was looking at Sascha like he wanted to eat him alive.
Sascha shot Kai a suspicious look. “Tell me, would you have fallen for any twinkish type you came across? Am I just the first?”
“You have me now. They cannot hurt you,”
Who wouldn’t be sweet to Jay? He was one of the nicest people Sascha had ever met. What the hell he was doing with broody, tight-lipped Alexei was really anyone’s guess.
“Jay, sweetheart.” Alexei came up to the kitchen table, stooping down to press a kiss to Jay’s tousled hair. “Please don’t buy a postcoital robe to match my brother’s. I don’t think I could take it.”
“You do not hurt Alexei,” Jay was telling Ivan, his sweet voice as close to a growl as was possible. “You’ve hurt him enough already.”
That was the part of the story from his childhood he’d told Kai that clearly hurt him the most—the man’s suffering, and his inability to do anything to help. And Sacha claimed his soul wasn’t sweet.
They’re like your brothers-in-law.” Both Alexei and Ivan stared at Sascha incredulously. Kai grinned. He’d known Sascha was softening to the idea of the mate bond.
Kai sneered in Ivan’s direction. “As if a mere pistol could protect him from the likes of me.”
And while he may have thought he loved too easily, it was clear that love was returned. Even Ivan’s cold mask slipped for an instant when Sascha sat him down with a pat on his shoulder, a look of unmistakable fondness there and gone in a flash.
Hmph I guess we might be able to accept him. I mean, we accept Lucien and Wolfe (🥰), so I guess we can accept Ivan 😒
Ivan did not seem to find that reassuring. “And do you share our dear brother’s belief that I failed to protect you?” “I do,” Kai told him. He was ignored.
he lived now for this man beside him. And that was beautiful, really.
“I feel safe,” Sascha found himself saying. “And I’m realizing I’ve maybe never felt that way before.” Jay sighed, his hands clasped in front of his chest. “Oh, that’s lovely.”
Jesus. Sascha swallowed hard. In public. He was in public. No fucking the demon in public.
An unfamiliar, sultry male voice echoed out from the back corner of Ivan’s office, where a door to an inner room had opened at some point during their argument. “Personally I think he needs to get laid, but that’s just me. I could be biased.”
Besides, I have one of my own now.” He shot an exaggerated adoring look at Ivan.
“Get your hands off my demon,” Ivan snapped at the same time, rising to his feet.
“Plus, he has a deliciously complex soul. Very tasty.” “Rotten, more like.” Kai knew that wasn’t true, exactly. But it was damn close. Nix pursed plush lips. “Not rotten. More…twisted.” He shimmied his shoulders. “Gives me the chills. In a good way,” he said with a wink.
“Can you do that, demon? Can you help me forget?” Kai could do absolutely anything, if it meant lessening Sascha’s pain. “I’m at your command,” he told him. “Always.”
“Promise I won’t lose you,” he ordered Kai. “Promise that you’ll never, ever leave.” “Never,” Kai swore. He could give Sascha that, easy as breathing.
He’d been born to be claimed by Kai, as Kai had been born to be at his side. Destined to be his mate. Kai knew it as well as he knew anything.
“I will care for you and spoil you and claim you as my mate.
If this was what Sascha needed to forget the sorrows of his life, Kai would oblige him. All day, every day for the rest of eternity, if need be. He would give Sascha anything he asked for. His Sascha. His mate.
Kai withdrew his now half-hard cock with a pout, mumbling something about “stroking horns and teasing with mating promises.”
