“You’re a librarian,” she said on her way out. “To me, that makes you a bigger hero than Saint George, Sir William Wallace, and all of the Knights of the Round Table put together.”
“Imagination is more important than knowledge,” was Aunt Octavia’s favorite quote,
“We should never try to conceal the mistakes of the past, my girl,” he’d said in a firm but gentle tone. “Otherwise, how can we learn from them?”
Jane walked to Moira’s room as if she were wading through waist-high water. Her limbs felt heavy and uncooperative, and though she managed to greet passing guests with a smile and a friendly hello, her voice sounded alien and distant.
She’s the kind of person who probably wasn’t noticed much while she lived. But I bet she’ll be deeply missed now that she’s gone.
