Definitely Better Now

I was terrible at speaking from the heart. My heart was shy. It didn’t like crowds.

Life is a journey, not a destination.

As the years went on, I was feeling younger and younger. My body was aging, but my soul was Benjamin Button–ing.

“But I’m really happy I’m not alone. There’s a reason people write so many love songs, Em. Life is better with someone by your side.” “You say that like I can make the choice by myself. Like I can just walk out into the world and declare I’m ready for love.”

“Exactly. People will talk about you, and they’ll form opinions about you. We don’t have control over what those opinions are,” she said.
