My tigress inhales sharply. “Oh, Lia, are we not keeping it a secret anymore?” “You knew?!” shriek the other felines at the same time.
Boneweaver. Aurelia is a fucking Boneweaver. Likely the only being in the world who can shift into any beast she chooses. And all the gifts that come with that? No wonder Mace Naga wants her back. No wonder he’d touted Aurelia as some manipulative narcissist, when all she’d been trying to do was survive. I’ve fucked up. Badly.
I recognise my underwear instantly. Six pairs of cheap pink, purple, and yellow bikini briefs I’d packed into my bag when I ran away from home. The same undies Savage stole right from my dorm. It was the sort of thing a territorial, dominant animus couldn’t help but do to a protesting regina. I told Lyle about it, embarrassed that I needed early access to the student village to buy underwear and then… I’d heard nothing more about it from him.
He blows me a kiss and says quickly, “I love you, Aurelia,”
He drops to his knees and presses his face right against my crotch, inhaling deeply. His nose rubbing against my slit sends a pang of pleasure through my core, but I realise there are other people in the room. As well as Scythe and Xander sitting down, Beak, Yeti and a few wolves are also scattered around, drinking and smoking. “Um, Savage—” “Lyle,” Savage growls into my vulva, his voice muffled. “Fucking Lyle was here.” “I’m a person, not a place!” I say, slapping him on the shoulder and darting a look at the other males. They are all averting their eyes. Apparently Savage trusts them enough

“I won’t let them take her, Scythe,” Savage says, unblinking eyes boring into me. “You know I’ll tear apart every court one by one if they take her away for… breeding.” We all know it. We would have a rabid wolf on our hands, who wouldn’t care for the consequences of any amount of slaughter. It would be a massacre. But it is that one triggering word that sets off a dangerous, psychotic bloodlust in me. Breeding. I refuse to let her be bred by anyone but me or one of her mates. Only we have that fucking right. In this life, in any lifetime.
“I am known by many names, snakelet. Boogeyman, devil, king… snake eater…” I can feel him smirking as more of those teeth kiss down the line of my neck, his breath searing me. “What name would you give me?” “Irritant,” I whisper. “Deviant. An all-round nuisance.” A rumbling chuckle sends shivers right down to my pussy. “Tell me you need me and I will take you right here.” By all the Gods known and unknown, I want to scream yes. But I keep my lips tightly sealed. I’m playing a fucking dangerous game with someone who feels like he could destroy this entire building in an instant. “You reek of

“I thought you said never again.” He pulls back to see me properly, stroking my cheek so gently with a thumb, his eyes ever so soft on mine. And it’s such a new, beautiful thing, that gaze, that I can’t help but get lost in it. His lips quirk up into a blinding smile before he murmurs, “I suppose I lied.” My heart swells ten times the size. Lying spread-eagle on the floor under Lyle’s desk like he’s eaten the biggest meal he’s ever had, Savage chuckles, “Scythe is gonna be so mad.”
That fades a little when he returns, not with the little cutting device they use to remove casts, but a stiff-backed, glowing eyed dragon. “He’ll probably burn my whole arm off,” I say darkly. “He won’t,” Savage says with a snarl, prowling in behind them. “Or I’ll rip out his fucking kidneys and wear them as earrings.”
“Eat your vegetables,” I say to Savage, mind-to-mind. “Prick,” Savage replies in the same way. He loads up his plate with chicken thighs, bacon, eggs, and one thin slice of tomato. “I held her legs open for you, asshole,” I reply. He smirks as he turns around. “And how sweet it was.”
“This is why she’s always drained,” is all I say. “Why she is always unwell.” “Fucking admit it, you cold bastard,” Lyle says. “She’s been protecting us from the Serpent Court the entire time. Protecting you.”
He leans down, putting a hand around my neck and hisses into my face with pure, terrifying menace only a dragon can muster, “You will not order me ever again. You will not so much as speak to me. I will pretend that you do not exist. Do you understand me?” I stare into his glowing white eyes, currently flicking a dangerous molten red. This anger is more than anything I’ve seen of him before, and something tells me it’s about more than just me. So I don’t mention the fact that Xander’s dragon requested me to command him. Instead, my voice is even and clear when I say, “I understand, Xander.” He
