Beautiful?” he purred. “I’d say stunning is a more accurate description. Not even the stars shine as brightly as you.”

“Is there something you need, Wynn?” “You . . .” he growled quietly. “I need you.”
“You know how everyone has at least one useless talent? Well, organization is mine. It will never help me to prove myself worthy of my title or to overturn my father’s rule, but, hey, at least my books are organized.”
“You win. Kiss me.”
“The stars couldn’t stop me if they tried,” I breathed.
“My star, you are the light in my darkness. My every breath is yours, but I love seeing you out of sorts.” “You’re insufferable, but I still like you.”
With him, I felt safe and cherished.
They were the rocks I held onto that gave me the strength to keep fighting.
I have escaped shadows. I have resisted illusion. I am stronger than I think I am. I will not give up.
Even in last place, she continued. She would never give up.
I would never have a chance to do anything about it if I didn’t keep fighting.
