“We are all a little broken, it’s the inevitability of a life well-lived.” Nathan James.
“At least I don’t have my hand on this one’s ass.”
I actually have plans with two guys that night. For your sake I hope they’re Ben & Jerry
“Who the fuck are Cesar and Potato?”
He’s going to take one look at me and wonder what the hell he’s marrying.” “Actually, you look kind of cute.”
“Oh, Spitfire, I can do things that would make Bruce Wayne look like Peter Griffin.”
“Don’t get used to it, Mel. You’ll be the one on your knees for me before too long.”
“What did he do?” “Something that got him arrested,”
“I’m sorry I didn’t give you a chance to explain.” “Don’t be. I enjoy coming home to be reamed by my pint-sized siren.”
“Do you speak Spanish?” “Sí, señora. Pero solo cuando estoy enojado …” He winks at me.
I guess I did leave her alone with a puddle of her cum to clean up.
Even if we discount his whole take your hands off my wife routine, no guy eats your pussy that good if he’s not into you.”
“He’s just a guy, baby girl. Cook him a steak, wear some sexy lingerie, and he’ll be putty in your hands.”
“You were planning to seduce me with food and sexy lingerie, but you blush when I tell you you’re beautiful?”
“You can’t give me a sexy striptease and then shake your head at me for admiring the end result, corazón.”
“I’m going to fill your greedy cunt with my cum and then I’m going to eat it out of you.” “Holy shit!”
“Would you like me to have a word with him?” And by a word, I mean I’ll break his jaw.
“I’m going to fuck that sass right out of you one of these days, corazón.” “You need to order dinner first.”
“Pretty sure I know the difference between your back and your ass, Mel.”
If we can’t have sex, can we have pancakes?” “I’ll make you pancakes, corazón.”
“I’m almost certain the answer to thirteen down isn’t cockblocker, corazón.”
“No matter how we came to be here, you are my wife, and regardless of what I call you, or how often I fuck you like a whore when we’re alone, outside of these walls, I will defend you and your honor with my dying breath. Do you understand me?”
“If you ever touch a hair on her head again, I will make you my exception. There is nowhere you can run that I won’t find you. And I will find you, Bryce, and I will crush every bone in your body to dust.”
“How?” I roll my eyes. “You need a biology lesson?”
“Nathan. It’s you … I wasn’t …” She gapes at me. I arch an eyebrow. “How many douchebag husbands do you have, Spitfire?”
“You can’t call him a douchebag, Cass. It’s unprofessional.” Cass gives me once-over. “But he is though, right?” Mel giggles, her bright green eyes fixed on mine. “Only very occasionally.”
“Tell me you didn’t eat a jelly donut for dinner again, corazón?” That word slices a fresh welt in my heart, and tears prick at my eyes. I blink them away and force out a laugh. “I did. Look, what baby wants, baby gets.” “I’m going to start having a chef deliver your meals if you don’t start eating proper dinners.”
Yes, I really fucking do. More than I’ve ever had to take care of anyone in my whole fucking life, I need to take care of you right now.
“You can cry an ocean if you need to, Mel. I’ll be right here.”
“What if I’m broken?” The words leave my mouth on a sob. He sighs, his warm breath dancing over my skin. “You’re not. At least not in the way you mean. But we’re all a little broken, Mel. It’s the inevitability of a life well lived. And it’s the pieces of us that knit back together that make us who we are.”
“What’s the point of having your own plane if not to use it?”
“I fucking care about you, asshole. Sue me.” I snort. “If I did sue you, I’d win.”
“Touched a nerve?” “Fuck you.” “Nice,”
“An old movie on the sofa? With you actually watching rather than working?” She winces like she’s asking too much, when it’s not nearly enough.
“She’s the best damn thing that’s ever happened to you, Nathan. And I think you know that too.”
Love doesn’t care how much time we have. It just takes its happiness where it can find it.’
You have to grab onto whatever little slice of happiness while you can, and you have to fucking live in it.
Things die all the time, but killing them to stop them from dying is my idea of batshit crazy.
“I d-don’t understand. Like stay for tonight?” I slide a hand to the back of her neck and stuff the other one into the pocket of my sweatpants to stop myself from picking her up, carrying her to bed, and chaining her to it. “No, not for tonight. Not to give me a kid. And not because you feel guilty or because of anything to do with our families. Stay for me. Because you are the only thing in this entire world that I cannot fucking live without.”
“I love you, Mel, and I would die tomorrow if it means I get to love you for today.”
“I guess I’m going home alone then?” Tyler’s voice drifts through the room. I stop kissing her, but I don’t remove my lips from hers. “Get the fuck out of here, Ty.” He snorts a laugh. “Rude. Can I at least take a slice of pizza?” Pulling back, I suck in a gulp of air. “Take the whole thing, just go.”
“He just took our dinner.” I plant my hands either side of her, bracketing her hips and pushing her against the counter. “Not my dinner, corazón.”
“I promise you forever and a day, corazón.”
I kiss the top of her head and smile. My wife. My every-fucking-thing.
“Perfecto como tu.”
“I love how you slip into speaking Spanish when you get all romantic.” He shakes his head, but his smile remains in place. “Eat your pancakes.” I lick my lips. “What if I’d rather eat something else?”
“You think you’re so smooth, Mr. James.” “I’m smoother than fucking silk, Mrs. James. It’s how I landed you, right?”
“Actually, I think you landed me with your huge …” I sink my teeth into my bottom lip. He arches an eyebrow at me. “Bank balance?” I swat him on the arm and fake a horrified gasp. “I was going to say your huge—” “Penthouse?” he offers. I narrow my eyes. “No. Your giant-ass ego.”
“I brought waffles.” Her eyes light up. “Then I’m even happier to see you.”
“You’re not interrupting anything, Drake,” Mel says sweetly. I wink at him. “Not right now, anyway.”
