“Bye, Rue,” I whisper. I press the three middle fingers of my left hand against my lips and hold them out in her direction.
“Lean down a minute first,” he says. “Need to tell you something.” I lean over and put my good ear to his lips, which tickle me as he whispers. “Remember, we’re madly in love, so it’s all right to kiss me any time you feel like it.”
“I remember everything about you,”
“You’re the one who wasn’t paying attention.”
