He brushes off an escaped tear with his thumb. “You’re sick.” I inhale a strained breath. The words from his lips are soul-crushing, even though they’re true. I try and jerk away but his hand slides down the back of my neck. The other one on my shoulder keeps me rooted here. “I’m sick too,” he says, “and there will be times where we’re weak.
