Retrospectives enable whole-team learning, act as catalysts for change, and generate action.
The learnings belong to the team, and team members: not the coach, not the team lead, and not you as the retrospective leader. The team needs to own them.
when someone starts shouting, the rest of the people in the room stop participating.
Self-awareness is the foundation of personal effectiveness.
“From your perspective, what is the highest priority for us to try in the next iteration?”
“I appreciate you for__________.”
When people lack information, they fill in the gaps with their worst fears.
While these tools and tips are important, you are your most important tool. No gadget will be more important than your ability to provide a process, manage the flow of ideas, and guide the group to discover their wisdom.
