From the corner of her eye, she spotted Kat waving to her gently and she smiled, returning the gesture. “Please, sit,” Silas said with a nod. Striding to the nearest empty chair, she started to pull it out, but halted when Silas cleared his throat. “Not there,” he said, gesturing for her to come to his end of the table. “Next to me.” The burly man seated to his right got up silently and moved to a different chair. Ivy would have felt guilty, but the man didn’t even pause in his eating, and he certainly didn’t look annoyed.
