They looked like puppies ready for a treat; I felt like a sullen cat looking to claw the eyes out of anyone who tried to touch me.
I was contemplating lifting her onto the table and sinking myself into her, and she looked as if she were contemplating my death.
“I am born of anguish, hate, pride, torment, wrath, envy, lust, greed, and sorrow. I am born of the suffering of the souls and of the necessity to replace a leader who had fallen.
The first seal of Hell had been broken. The dead now walked the earth.
I kept her pinned beneath me. Her fingers entangled in my hair, holding me close against her as I forever marked her as mine to any demon who saw her.
“You are mine, Mah Kush-la.” My head tilted at his odd words. They sounded so old and beautiful. “What does that mean?” “It means my heart in my language.”
She was everything I had ever needed or wanted in the world. She was my heart and I would not let her go.
