He smiled, gazing at her furious expression. “I’m gonna marry you one day.”

“Damn, that’s how you accept compliments nowadays?” “Was it a compliment or was it just a fact?”

Violet laughed, and he wanted to bottle the sound. She lowered her hands, and he caught her left hand in his. Slowly, he interlaced his fingers through hers, and their bands knocked against each other. Her skin was soft and warm. What was he doing?

She stared at him, aghast. “As if I would go out of my way to do anything for your benefit. Goodbye, Eddy.” He held on to her elbow. “Wait, Violet.” She yanked her arm away, glaring at him. “What’s up?” A deep voice cut in. Violet turned around and Xavier was standing right behind her.

Ahhhh!!! Screaming
