Since age and genetics are out of our control, I find it much more useful to focus on the factors that we can control—namely diet, exercise, and our evening rituals. For example, if your diet consists of processed foods, preservatives, artificial flavors and dyes, pesticides, and excessive sugar and carbohydrates, then your body may require more sleep to deal with the detrimental effects of such foods and to eliminate any toxins that you’ve consumed.
