“Because the man who holds the secret to manipulating the morality of others is truly indestructible,”
I hold her gaze, internally screaming at myself to walk away. She’s a vicious hurricane intent on our mutual destruction, but despite all the heartache and pain, I’d still do anything to put the life back in her soul.
She is mine and I am hers. My scars are her scars.
Men cry too, even when stupid society tells them they shouldn’t. Fuck that bullshit. I’ll catch all the tears he needs to shed.
“You guys always find me, don’t you?”
“Even when you run from us.”
Kids are broken because they can’t help but love the monsters that breed them.
Our lighthouse beckoning us home. She’s back.
They’ve taken everything from her. But they haven’t taken us.
“I’ve got you and I swear on my damned life, I’m never letting go. I found you… I knew you were here, and I fucking found you. Just like I said I would,”
“You didn’t forget about me,”
“I left you behind once before, and I took an oath to make that right. I didn’t save you then, baby. But I bloody well will now.”
“I promised you I’d remain by your side,”
“That was years ago, before she killed you.”
“Thank you for saving my life.”
“You’re the one who saved us, baby.”
“Maybe this bullshit has taught us something after all. You never needed to impress anyone.”
“Only you.”
“I want to cut my hair.”
“Your hair?”
“None of us. Not even Phoenix and
Eli were together. We don’t work without you, love. You’re our centre.”
“I’m disappointed I don’t get to kill anyone who’s touched you.”
“You sadistic little bitch.”
“I wondered why I made it out alive. I understand now. It was so I could hear that perfect voice every day for the rest of my life.”
“Who did this to you?”
“I’ll tear them apart and make a fucking hat out of their broken skull.”
“I’m glad you found your home, Hud.”
“You’re our home, blackbird.”
“You can’t love me. Not like this.” “You don’t get to decide that! There’s no choice in this, no walking away. I’ve loved you since the moment we met, and I’ll love you until our very last goodbye.”
She’s the only thing worth living for on this planet. Without her, we have nothing.
“We’re people. We matter, and we will stand up for our rights until society decides to give a damn. This isn’t over.”
“I’m not sure what love means.”
“But… I think it would feel like this. I can’t breathe when I’m around you. All I want is to drink the oxygen from your lungs. Living in a world without your strength at my side is no longer an option. I can’t take another step alone.”
“Prove it. Stay with me.” “Why?!” “Because I can’t survive without you!”
