Sophie So much spam, sigh.

message 2: by Tom (new)

Tom Killen Wow. Such a worthless list. Disappointing.

message 3: by Deb (new)

Deb Stransky Too much romance and uninteresting books on this list

message 4: by Joe (new)

Joe McDonough The same publisher of these romance novels is now screwing up the 2015 list as they did to the 2014 list. They're looking for free exposure to their niche titles.

It's too bad that Goodreads isn't monitoring this obvious spam activity and barring/removing this. It degrades the site's authenticity.

message 5: by Tina (new)

Tina Even if the publishers are adding books to the list it still takes people to vote for them to move higher in the ranking. If romance isn't your thing don't vote for it, put up the books you have loved so far and let other people make their own decisions about what they believe are the best books out there!

message 6: by Ashley (new)

message 7: by Bob/Sally (new)

Bob/Sally I'd add Knight's Shadow here as well, but apparently it's not eligible because of a December 2014 German release that's questionable at best.

message 8: by Richard (new)

Richard Radgoski gotta find em to vote for em...sigh

message 9: by Matthew (last edited Jun 20, 2015 03:23AM) (new)

Matthew White This list is either completely worthless or satirically brilliant.

message 11: by Román (new)

Román What's up with all the abs?

message 12: by Nicholas (new)

message 15: by Ebony (new)

Ebony Jones-Kuye Hi everyone,

I just published my first book, "Stand For Something or Stand For Nothing", the book is 150 pages. This book that will encourage and inspire people. I hope you enjoy!

message 16: by Lobstergirl (new)

Lobstergirl What a sad list. I'm embarrassed for Goodreads. What will the visiting Martians think?

message 17: by Mel (new)

Mel Foster Let's vote up some nonfiction! Or at least some nonRomance! The year isn't even over yet. We can redeem this.

message 18: by Dottie (new)

Dottie Legatos ??? I haven't heard of 95% of the first 100 books on the list.

Erin *Proud Book Hoarder* Dottie wrote: "??? I haven't heard of 95% of the first 100 books on the list."

Same.

Lobstergirl wrote: "What a sad list. I'm embarrassed for Goodreads. What will the visiting Martians think?"

It is pretty bad....

message 20: by Jackie (new)

Jackie Zimmer What the hell is this crap? "Manwhore + 1"???? WTF?!?!? Sadly, it's the second book in the series.....

message 21: by Hazel (new)

Hazel Done

message 22: by S (new)

S This list is kind of sad. I do not agree with it at all.

message 23: by Eric (new)

Eric Slyter Ouch. Sad list. I think what we have here is a list of the most "liked" or commented on books. That explains all the erotica and such (apparently fans of erotic fiction are very active internet users). But it's hardly fair to call it a Best Books of 2015 list. It's the difference between quality and quantity.

message 24: by Margaret (new)

Margaret Willoughby Hey not all middle age women like to read this crap! I know I don't. I'm new to this site and this list is very disappointing to say the least.

message 25: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie Untamed (S.C. Stephens) hasn't even been released yet so how can it be voted on for Best of 2015? I couldn't make myself look past the first page):

message 26: by Alexa (new)

Alexa "Naps" Snow oh well, sorry 2015. we'll try

message 27: by David (new)

David Yep, another romance list.

message 28: by Sarah (new)

Sarah So disappointed by this list. It is so skewed :-(
This in no way represents the best books of 2015.

Mel wrote: "Let's vote up some nonfiction! Or at least some nonRomance! The year isn't even over yet. We can redeem this."

I want to believe this! I voted for almost every book I read that was released this year in hopes of somehow contributing to correcting this mess.

message 29: by Jason (new)

Jason Despite some issues, the Best YA Books of 2015 at least is less dubious than this one.

message 30: by Catherine (new)

Catherine Vermillion I liked this list. These are the kind of books I read. I wish people woul heed ther mommas and not say anything if you have nothin nice to say. ...Dont like it, try another list...God knows Goodreads has enough of them.

message 31: by Sarah :) (new)

message 32: by Sarah :) (new)

Sarah :) Not sure how LANDON by Scarlett Edwards, can have 561 votes?! Its not even published yet lol I will read once out!

message 33: by Lobstergirl (new)

Lobstergirl Sarah :) wrote: "Not sure how LANDON by Scarlett Edwards, can have 561 votes?! Its not even published yet lol I will read once out!"

It's called "sockpuppets." Notice how every single one of the "voters" who "voted" for it has zero friends. Towards the middle of the pack, the author got tired and stopped giving her sockpuppets avatars.

message 34: by Lobstergirl (new)

Lobstergirl Not only did the author of LANDON create 561 sockpuppet accounts, but she stole the avatars of real GR users and stuck them on the fake accounts. That is, until she got tired halfway through and stopped copying and pasting avatars.

message 35: by Ashley (new)

Ashley V This list is such a joke.

message 36: by Donna (last edited Nov 08, 2015 09:20PM) (new)

Donna Davis Okay, who was it that said, "The people have spoken, damn them"? I am thinking WC Fields, but who knows. I can't believe that a writer like Toni Morrison doesn't even make the first 4 pages (maybe more; I think I added her myself), and yet all this erotica...? I know the genre is in style, but to such an exclusive degree? It makes no sense to me either.

The system found and removed 14 duplicates.

Oh wow. That is the most pathetic thing I have ever heard of. I had imagined a writer calling friends and relatives to beg them to join and vote, which is sad, but...sock puppets?

message 38: by Aubrey (new)

Aubrey The 2014 list has a non-erotica version. Does this one have its own yet?

message 43: by Sarah :) (new)

I love the book The Deal, at least i know it was voted for by real people this time unlike the other situation ;)

message 44: by Donna (new)

Donna Davis Lobstergirl wrote: ""The Shittiest Books You Ever Did See - 2015 Edition""

It really is. I tried doing my cheerful-helper thing by adding Toni Morrison and some other quality lit, but it remains buried. Probably too late to pull it out of the water now.

This is great, and thank you. Sadly, we don't yet have the feature that tells us whether a book qualifies for this list--maybe superlibrarians can assist us here?--but I am just going to open two windows on my desk top and take my votes off the one, and put them here instead. Easy enough. Glad you took this on, Aubrey!

message 49: by Cristian (last edited Dec 12, 2015 01:46AM) (new)

Cristian Garabet Oh boy! I wanted to see the list to find about some wise, clever, beautiful or in some way kind-of-making-a difference books to read. After just a short glimpse on top of the list you see a a lot of nude men torsos. Should I infer from here that the majority of voters are women in search of virtual sexual satisfaction?! What a disappointment with Goodreads. Maybe they should call it sexualreads or arousalreadsforunsatisfiedwomen.

I doubt this actually reflects Goodreads readers' tastes, Cristian. Go look at some other lists (best books of the century, best books ever, etc) and you will find a much more tasteful selection.

I am just a volunteer librarian (retired teacher), but a Goodreads employee recently mentioned a practice called "Sock puppets". It's a sleazy device (my term) by which an author will open many fictitious accounts under a lot of different names, all from the same computer, and then nominate their own title and vote for it multiple times. I have no idea whether that has occurred on this listopia--have no way of checking from my humble PC, at least none I'm aware of--but sometimes you see a particular list that just looks fishy, and that's often what is behind it.

Meanwhile, Aubrey's newer list--see her link above--gives us a chance to offer more authentic, diverse reading opportunities. And of course, you can add books from your own list under the tab at the top indicated.

Cheer up; this is actually a terrific site. My daughter steered me here when I retired, and I have been on the site nearly every day since then.
