Books Becoming Movies in 2016

important: There have been a lot of books added on this list that should not have been because they don't meet the qualifications. There's a reason the title says "2016". Only add movie adaptations of books that are actually being released in 2016.

Becca Some of these are already as movies. Are they beinging redone?

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

I really hope we get some statistic probability of love at first sight, news soon.

Aly Reital Becca wrote: "Some of these are already as movies. Are they beinging redone?"

Yes

message 4: by Jeanette (new)

Jeanette I doubt the Martian, The Scorch Trials and Paper Towns are being redone in 2016 - given that at least 2 of them were released in 2015

message 5: by Kerry (new)

Kerry Anderson Legend is still in development - there's a different movie coming out called Legend next year that has nothing to do with Marie Lu's book.

message 6: by Charlene (new)

Charlene Herondale Eleanor and Park? Eleanor and Park will become a movie? Oh gods I'm so excited!!

message 7: by Samantha (new)

Samantha Their redoing "A Walk to Remember" and "Dear John"? Seriously? That's just stupid "A Walk to Remember" was really good with Mandy Moore and Shane West two thumbs down for redoing that movie. And "Dear John" I think that's one adaption that I prefer over the book.

Sarah Samantha wrote: "Their redoing "A Walk to Remember" and "Dear John"? Seriously? That's just stupid "A Walk to Remember" was really good with Mandy Moore and Shane West two thumbs down for redoing that movie. And "D..."

I think whoever added those didn't notice the "2016" date.

What? Its says books becoming movies in 2016. Those movies were already movies BEFORE 2016. Is that what you meant? I don't understand.

message 10: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Samantha wrote: "Sarah wrote: "Samantha wrote: "Their redoing "A Walk to Remember" and "Dear John"? Seriously? That's just stupid "A Walk to Remember" was really good with Mandy Moore and Shane West two thumbs down..."

I mean, they have been made, I see no information online that they are being remade (feel free to contradict me if you see other information). I assumed the person who added them messed up and was just adding book titles that had been made into movies.

message 11: by Chelsea (new)

Chelsea Phelan-Tran How is Girl on the Train not on this list? It should be #1!

message 12: by Liz H (new)

Liz H {Redd's Reads} Removed several titles that have already been made into movies before 2016.

message 13: by Kelsey (new)

Kelsey No Silence? It's coming out this year, will likely premiere at Cannes, and is a Martin Scorsese film.

Also I looked for info on The Selection coming out as a film and it's failed as a TV pilot x2 and while it has been optioned as a film by WB, it is only at first draft stage. Saying it is "becoming a film in 2016" seems like a stretch let alone putting it as #1.

message 14: by Lara Lightwood (new)

Lara Lightwood Is this list dependable? Some of the books here have been said to become a movie but the cast has not even been announced yet.

message 15: by Erikka (new)

Erikka Most of the books on here are either already movies or say that they are "in development." I'm thinking some people didn't see the "in 2016." I know for a fact that Ready Player One isn't until at least 2017.

message 16: by Robin (new)

Robin The Danish Girl movie came out in 2015.

Meg by Steve Alten is being made into a movie but I doubt it will be out this year.

message 17: by Lyndal (new)

Lyndal Miller Was hoping to see "The Boys in the Boat" on this list.

message 18: by Brittany (new)

Brittany Are these legitimate? Or just rumored? Because I'd hate to get my hopes up for Throne of Glass...

message 19: by Bobbi (new)

Bobbi Schindler's List is *not* being made into a movie in 2016.

message 20: by Camille (new)

Camille Shaina wrote: "Is looking for Alaska really being made into a movie?"

Yes, though I think it's going to come out on 2017. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt3829868/

message 21: by Jeza (new)

Jeza Is summer series of Jenny Han being made into a movie for real?

message 22: by Stacy Renee (new)

Stacy Renee (LazyDayLit) I recently heard John Green say in one of his vlogs that Looking for Alaska will probably never be adapted into a movie.

message 23: by dsreads (new)

dsreads I think most of these are wishful thinking, rumors, etc. Looking for Alaska is definitely not going to be a 2016 movie. Neither is Red Rising.

message 24: by Marlon (new)

Marlon Manalese I cannot thank you enough for making this list because it makes it easier for me to track what I should be reviewing for my YouTube channel: From the Book Shelf to the Big Screen.

http://www.youtube.com/bsbsreviews

What are the guidelines of posting links on this website? I want to know if it's okay for me to sometimes put a video link to my BSBS Reviews instead of just text when I review a book.

message 25: by Angelica (new)

Angelica Reyes Lara Lightwood wrote: "Is this list dependable? Some of the books here have been said to become a movie but the cast has not even been announced yet."

Probably 2017 or 2018

message 26: by Hannah (new)

Hannah Is "Night" really going to be a movie? I don't even know if that would even work

message 27: by Jayne (new)

Jayne Ingram-Shover Some serious errors on this list,Schindlers list??come on. And the Danish Girl and The Big Short came out in 2015 and Red Rising has not even been casted, the author is still working on the movie script, not going to be released in 2016 and I am sure the same is true for some of these other books.

message 28: by Trisha (new)

Trisha Some of these books were put on because they either have already out or they have been optioned.

message 29: by Rebecca (last edited Sep 26, 2016 03:13AM) (new)

Rebecca A few of these (including a few I've voted for) are mini-series rather than films. I'm not exactly sure if that counts under the remit of the list or not? I don't want to go deleting stuff since I only just found this list and I'm not 100% sure, but I also think "Egg and Spoon" is only under option as of this year and not actually in any sort of production. Also, "Mr Mercedes" was only optioned this year and wasn't due for release until 2018; and considering that, very sadly, recent events have included the death of one of the leads in an accident similar to that depicted in the book, plus a large-scale attack in France that was again very similar, I'm not sure how long it'll be until they actually feel they can adapt that one now.
