Niledaughter Is the writer has to be a female ? or the book is about females ?
Aamer Hussein is a male ?

message 2: by Karen (new)

Karen Who is the pretty author (Iranian) that was making the talk shows a couple of years ago? I can't seem to fine her anywhere. She left Islam and discussed the horrors of Islam and her life was in danger. I hope she's okay!

message 3: by Wasi (new)

Wasi Daniju Coming to this *very* late, but just googled 'muslim women writers', and this list came up. Many thanks - interesting, and has given me lots to check out.
Just wanted to say, though, Ayaan Hirsi Ali is most definitely not Muslim.

Aubrey Wasi wrote: "Just wanted to say, though, Ayaan Hirsi Ali is most definitely not Muslim. "

Duly noted and removed.

message 5: by Michelle (new)

Michelle I removed most books added here by Darussalam. While all of their contributions were clearly publisher spam to any list tagged "muslim," most were authored by men, and it was those that I removed. I also removed a book by Nonie Darwish, who was raised in a Muslim family but who is herself a convert to Christianity. I'm not sure how broadly "Muslim" is being defined here -- active practice? cultural background? -- but if Hirsi Ali doesn't qualify, neither does Darwish.

"-dangers of leaving Islam"..? Since this comment is a bone of contention it is only fair it is subject to scrutiny. We may differ in opinion but just remember we are all humans and I only wish to inform you of my disapproval of your statement but in the kindest of respect.

Booklovinglady Wasi wrote: "...Ayaan Hirsi Ali is most definitely not Muslim..."

I'm Dutch and as far as I know, Ayaan Hirsi Ali was born a Muslim and brought up a Muslim, but now considers herself atheist (again, as far as I know). I don't know all that much about her, and know even less about her since she left the Netherlands and moved to the States, as she is only very rarely in the news broascasts over here nowadays.

message 8: by Oyon (new)

Oyon Reza "Shatter Me" by Tehereh Mafi is a young adult fantasy about a girl manifesting her powers. It certainly does not have anything to do with Muslim women! Please remove.

message 9: by Diana (new)

Diana A lot of spam for a Persian-written book that hasn't been translated to English. It's by a male author.

message 10: by Huma (new)

Huma Ahmed I want to remove the books I added to this list.

Just delete them from your votes and they'll disappear (in time), if you're the only voter, that is...

message 12: by Mjspice (new)

Mjspice The following don't belong here

Sunshine by Kelsey Rea (Writer is Non-Muslim)
Hoops of Fire: Fifty Years of Fiction by Pakistani Women by Aamer Hussein (Writer is male)
A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini (Writer is male)
Mother of the Believers by Kamran Pasha (Writer is male)
On Loving a Saudi Girl by Carina Yun (Writer is Non-Muslim)
