You're right; I removed them. Please only add PICTURE books, anything with 150+ pages is NOT a picture book.

Ah, good, then I don't have to storm my teenage son's room and grab one of his copies to determine the ratio of pictures to print ;-)

There's a children's cat themed picture book I'm trying to find, but as I haven't seen the book since I was a child, I don't know the name of it.

The 'plot' was about three kittens that decide they aren't kittens by fierce big cats - a lion, a tiger, and a panther (as they look like little miniatures of the big cats). They visit the big cats at the zoo, then decide they like 'just' being cats after all.

It was a book at my grandparents' house, and probably was a book they'd had when their children were young. So I'm guessing it could by from the 1950s?

If anyone is familiar with this book, I'd so love to find it again.

I can see why The Cat Who Thought He was a Tiger would come to mind - somewhat similar concept. Thank you for the suggestion. In the one I'm thinking of, the art had them looked more like real cats.

I'll keep looking. (Unfortunately the book went out in a flood about 15 years ago, so I can't return to the source.) It'll show up and/or ring a bell with someone!

The other place with a lot of people who are very good at ferreting out books is "The Vine" column at tomatonation.com. There, however, you have to rely on the website author selecting your book for the column! I'll ask my children's librarian sister too.

Among the books I just added to this list there are three which could be qualified as early-reader books (controlled vocabulary), but they are picture book length and fully illustrated, in the style of Cat in the Hat. Could you comment on whether they make the cut? They are Cat the Cat, Captain Cat and What Cat Is That?

I wonder if you can help! I'm looking for an illustrated story about two Children whose pet Cat died. They then listen to the stories of his life, as told by his Cat friends. I cannot remember the title of Authorand have trawled the internet looking, but without any success..

Wondering if anyone remembers this particular book I read when I was a kid (I probably read it in the early 90's).
A little girl had a cat, she loved the cat, yada yada, even tied a pretty ribbon around its neck. Then one day she comes home and the cat is gone. Her parents tell her the cat died. The girl thinks it's something she did (she even thinks maybe she tied the ribbon around the cat's neck too tightly). Anyone recognize it? Maybe it was on this list and I didn't see it.
