2009 Newbery Contenders
Add and vote for 2008 American children's and YA books that should win the Newbery Medal in January 2009. The medal is awarded to the author of "the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children published in English in the United States during the preceding year".

That's right. I think that it was named as winner on January 26th of this year, but in any case the Newbery vote was definitely announced in late January.

I have created a new group called Goodreads All Sorts and I'd love for people to join it or just even just give it a look. It's a group that discusses anything and everything. There will be monthly group reads, movies, and music. There is a folder for everything you could think of. That's how the Newberys work. The ALA awards are announced every January or February, to the best books published the previous year.
