Betsy And just to clarify, not books for kids or teens! We're looking for fantastic upcoming adult fare. Thanks a bunch!

message 2: by Jean (new)

Jean Auralia's Colors (trilogy) by Jeffrey Overstreet

message 3: by Sarah (new)

Sarah BT If Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is going to be a movie, why not Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter?

message 4: by Elysabeth (new)

Elysabeth It's not an upcoming book but it came out last year and it would really make a great movie - Radium Halos by Shelley Stout - it's about the radium dial factor in Illinois and how the young women who worked there ended up with different ailments, some dying as young as their 20s or shortly after giving birth. It's a fictionalization told through one woman's experience and how she has learned to live through all the problems she had to face.

Definitely a good read. As soon as I read it, first thing I told the author (whom I know personally) was that it definitely needed to be made into a movie. E :)

Little THE CHAMBER OF TEN by Christopher Golden and Tim Lebbon

THE OCEAN DARK by Jack Rogan

If something released last month is permitted:

WHERE ANGELS FEAR TO TREAD by Thomas E. Sniegoski

Liza Quisisem I vote for "Too Wicked To Kiss" by Erica Ridley. It released on March 2, 2010. It's like a Jane Austen book set as a Gothic mystery in Regency England. If you are a Regency fan, loves board games such as Clue, and loves series such as Ellery Queen and Murder She Wrote, you will absolutely love this book. I haven't thought about who would play the main characters in a movie, but there are many great actors who can play these parts!

message 7: by Susie (new)

Susie How about The Story of Edgar Sawtelle, That Old Cape Magic, Juliet Naked, or Her Fearful Symmetry?

The Reading Countess I agree with Susie: Edgar Sawtelle would make a great movie.

message 9: by GraceAnne (new)

GraceAnne Laurie R. King's latest in the Sherlock Holmes/Mary Russell series would make an extraordinary film. I reviewed it for Booklist, and it is difficult to summarize although I do refer you to the review. It has international intrigue, the beginnings of air travel and international telephone use, beautiful and isolated British locales, etc. Laurie King has done a series of blog posts leading up to publication at the end of this month.

message 10: by Betsy (new)

Betsy These are brilliant! Keep 'em coming!

message 11: by Paula (new)

Paula The Sheriff of Yrnameer by Michael Rubens. I reviewed it on Pink Me as an adult book that crosses over for teens, and I cast it already. You're welcome, Hollywood!

Also, The Extra by Michael Shea. It's a giant action movie within a book, so it's supercinematic to begin with.

message 12: by Krista (new)

Krista I have to admit, I've been out of the loop in new adult fiction just because I've been trying to play catch up on everything I missed while finishing school! I've been reading a ton of comics and graphic novels lately so I'm wondering what the next title from the arena will make the big jump...and is it just me, but I've been wondering if anyone has ever approached Neil Gaiman on whether or not he's been interested in adapting some of the Sandman stories to screen?

I will certainly keep you all in mind as I continue to read!

message 13: by Paula (new)

Paula If I'm not mistaken, all 3 of the Steig Larsson novels have already been made into movies in Sweden. I have the first 2, and they're terrific!

message 14: by Ebookwormy1 (new)

Ebookwormy1 thanks for including me!
i've been reading steig larsson, but i'm only starting book 2, and i thought book 3 isn't out in the US until later this spring. All the other titles are new to me, so i didn't vote because i don't have experience with them personally. i did, however, add several to my to-read list!

message 15: by Betsy (new)

Betsy I just finished reading the 2nd book in Gail Carriger's Parasol Protectorate, Changeless. The 3rd Book is due out in September. I think these would translate very well to film - steampunk, Victorian England, werewolves, vampires & preternaturals. Good, fun ride and very visual...
