Susanna - Censored by GoodReads Is this "Best," for which there is already a list for the decade in question, or "Worst"? The title of the list and the description of it seem to be in disagreement.

Casimir Radon Fixed, now slam all the Smeyer books in so we can make some fat girls cry.

message 8: by Hayes (new)

Hayes Had a whole list... but they were published too early and I had to take them back off... rats!

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads "I feel your pain!"

message 6: by Randi (new)

Randi (The Artist Formerly known as Guitar Chick) Breaking Dawn is the wrost book ever. Midnight sun is going to be even worse.

message 5: by Jazz (new)

Jazz Seems to me that the best and worst book list look pretty much the same. But i still agree that Breaking Dawn was a let down.

message 4: by Irene Caroline B. (last edited Jun 03, 2010 03:05AM) (new)

Irene Caroline B. Why is Johnny Tremain here? Not only is it an awesome book, but it was published in the 1940s.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads Removed for not having been first published in the last decade:

Johnny Tremain, by Esther Forbes (1943)
The Wind in the Willows, by Kenneth Grahame (1908)

Ladyacct Why is 50S here pub in 2011

message 1: by Perry (new)

Perry These are cheap shots. The Pulitzer Prizer winner, "All the Things We Cannot See," with it's bad grammar, its embarrassing references to "Claire de Lune" (level 1, it's a banal, obvious choice, and level 2, he's stealing from Proust), its sentimental contrivances, is my choice for #1. Number 2 would be "The Rules of Civility" because it's very simply puerile, contrived, unsophisticated, it's grammar is bad, and it's a puffed up, adolescent neo-Gatsby wannabee; Number 3--but far above the last two--is Donna Tart's "Goldfinch" a calculated bit of mediocrity, written with purely commercial aims in mind. But at least she knows how to write. And the Russian kid is a good piece of characterization!
