CLEAN Romance Books
This is a list I want people to contribute with romance books that are clean. As in NO descriptive sex in the books. There can be implication and passionate kisses but nothing beyond that please! I want it to be books people feel comfortable having their mother read.
Please only CLEAN romance!!
Doesn't matter what type of genre they are included in as long as they are clean. Also if it is a series of books ONLY add the FIRST book (or the one with the romance). This is only some of the clean one's I have come across I couldn't add all the ones on my books. Recently I have noticed more people discussing the language of a book so lets keep the cursing mild and below.

Some of you might be interested in the Clean Romance group here on goodreads.

1) You don't know my grandmother !
2) If romance is clean, you're not doin' It right.
I prefer clean books too. There have been some books I would have really liked but they were too graphic. I have had to overlook more and more in Charlaine Harris books but I do keep reading them.
I would NOT put them on this list.
I would NOT put them on this list.

Definitely agree with you on that one.

I honestly don't understand why people hate on this book so much. My theory is it's because this book touches on every female's basic instinctual desire to be swept away as in the case of Bella.
They spend an insermountable amount of time fooling themself into believing in the garbage that society has led them to belive, which is...if you act like a woman, your weak!
While I can agree that Bella may have had a some what addictive personality, I don't see anything wrong with loving someone to the degree that you would give your very life for them! That is something that we see little of now days. Society is selfish and cruel. There is not an ioda of dedication to one another nor is there any such thing as an unrequited love.
We marry and then divorce just as quickly.
This book is a refreshing view into the way of the past. We see how things might have been only a 100 years ago with men treating women as if they had value. It gives us a glimpse into what it is really like to actually take seriously the vow to love, cherrish and honor till death do you part.
Now days its till "I cant stand you anymore."
some have also said that Edward bordered on abusive and stalkerish. Maybe in the real world but this is only a book and it was written with the intention of conveying a truely astounding romance between two people so I think as long as your able to keep in mind that it is only the work of fiction...then the situations in the book that might be considered as such, can be seen for what it really is...a discription of an everlasting bond between two very wonderful people.
You cant and shouldn't take this book seriously or even expect that there is an "Edward" for you out there somewhere. SHIVALRY IS, WITHOUT A DOUBT, DEAD!
Nothing could be less romantic for me then some woman going around trying to be some type of crusader. How is a man to view her as someone to romance or sweep off her feet if she is running around emasculating him every time he turns around. Sorry if I offend any feminists out there but I feel a woman can be a lady and still be strong.
The series is curtainly has its flaws but if you have an imagination then you can get past those flaws and enjoy the story for what it really is...a Timeless love story.

Everybody loved this book, but now, loads of people act like it was totally lame. Meyer's way of writing is so addictive, and I don't know a single person who wasn't hooked up..

Definitely agree with you on that one."
I totally agree

i was thinking the exact same thing. i haven't read the 3rd book but I've heard about that scene

I am 13 and i like romance books, but i know what you mean i only know a few that aren't on this list and this isn't very many

I agree. I did love both books though. But another book I know without a doubt Isn't clean is Graceling. It has two sex scenes and it goes into quite a description during the first scene. It almost ruined the rest of the book for me.

I totally agree with you there!!!

by P.C. Cast should be on this list. I know its not my list but I wouldn't put any of their books on this list. Other than that its a pretty awesome list!

You're completely right. I almost didn't finish it after the first one. It definitely shouldn't be on this list.

You're absolutely correct! I wish more authors felt that way :).

Are you talking about Graceling?"
Graceling has a sex scene in it and its a litte bit descriptive. I would remove it off the list.

Agreed. :-)

Since the rape in Clarissa is not romanticized, it does not really have any capacity to double as pornographic unless you are really twisted. The language also helps to keep the reader from having graphic mental pictures. It's not one of those scenes that are like, "he raped her but then she got off, so it was okay in the end because she secretly liked it," that you see in romances sometimes. I think that the rape in Clarissa served a purpose for the plot and was not added for entertainment or titillation.

How can you remove books? I don't even have that ability and I created the list.

If the front cover has either character half dressed, or standing in a provocative manner; there is a good chance it will contain unclean material.
Also if in the book description it has words such as: passionate, sexy, wicked, naughty etc. In other words if it has words that are synonomous with sex there is a chance it will have descriptive sex scenes. Watch out for words in the description they can give away whether there is appropriate material or not.
Another great thing is amazon.com now states in the descriptions with SOME books if it has "adult content" or "mature audiences" or "explicit sex scenes"
