Cara I would add Jiao Shu De's books and also Huang2's books. modern classic's!

message 2: by Lorraine (new)

Lorraine Wilcox Um... you can add what you like, but my idea was not modern. They might be great books, but does the word 'classic' become meaningless if there is not a little time for it to mature? I personally want to foster appreciation for the old books. But like I said, you can add them if you like. Just no Giovanni Maciocia!

message 3: by Cara (new)

Cara Agreed! No Giovanni!

Michael Dell'orfano Great list, but it almost seems incomplete without listing the classics of daoism. Those are the true classics from which Chinese medicine sprouted. While many would say those belong more to the category of philosophy or religion/spirituality, they are important prerequisites for anyone who really wants to understand the classics of Chinese medicine, since the theories of the medicine come from daoist philosophy primarily.

Lorraine Wilcox I totally agree, a doctor must read Dao De Jing and Zhuangzi. I could not perform acupuncture without Chef Ding or Wheelwright Bian. I could not understand 順 shun and 逆 ni without Laozi.
