Sophie Great list! been looking for one as I want to know where to find other regency romances other than Austen and Heyer!

message 2: by Cindy (new)

Cindy The Black Moth IS a great book, but it is not Regency. It's before the Regency era.

message 3: by Nicole D. (last edited Sep 28, 2012 06:19PM) (new)

Nicole D. These Old Shades isn't Regency either but it's good. It's in the era before the Regency.I can't remember what it's called Georgian I think. So is Devil's Cub which is amazing.Georgette Heyer is an amazing authoress. Here are a list of books of Heyer's that are not in the Regency Era:
The Black Moth
These Old Shades
The Masqueraders
Powder and Patch
Devil's Cub
The Convenient Marriage
I forget that The Convenient Marriage isn't in the Regency era a lot but it isn't.I think I added it to the list sorry :(

message 4: by Sophie (new)

Sophie Yeah those are Georgian I believe. :)

message 5: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne This is a great list! It contains books by three of my favorite authors: Austen, Heyer, and Darcy.

message 6: by Sophie (new)

Sophie Really would like to read a Darcy now.
Which ones would you recommend?

message 7: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne I recently re-read Gwendolyn, Eugenia, and Lady Pamela, and any of those would make a great start. I love her books for their quirky characters and humor; though sometimes you're left wanting just a tad more romance, or at least interaction, between the main characters.

message 8: by Sophie (new)

Sophie Suzanne wrote: "I recently re-read Gwendolyn, Eugenia, and Lady Pamela, and any of those would make a great start. I love her books for their quirky characters and humor; though sometimes you're left wanting just..."

thanks! I will look into them! which one have you found the most romantic? I am such a romantic, and love the regency period!

message 9: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne If you like really romantic books, I'd suggest you read a different author. :) Like I said, Clare Darcy has more humor than romance in her books. She's like Georgette Heyer in that respect. But out of the three I mentioned above, LADY PAMELA might be the most romantic.

message 10: by Sophie (new)

Sophie Thanks! I am enjoying the Heyers though :)
One further question, which author would you suggest for regency romances with the emphasis on romance ;) ?

message 11: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne I like Elizabeth Mansfield, particularly Her Man of Affairs and The Frost Fair. I love Joan Smith, as well, though her books are usually comedic, also, like Clare Darcy's. A Country Wooing is probably the sweetest, most romantic of her books, and I also like La Comtesse. You can check out my books, too, if you'd like. I've written three regency romances, Mr. Malcolm's List, Incognito, and The Celebrated Pedestrian. I hope this helps.

message 12: by Sophie (new)

Sophie Oh brilliant! Thank you so much! I will check all those out! And definitely your own! Thanks again! :)

message 13: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne Sarah Eden's are sweet, clean romances. Also Danse de la Folie by Sherwood Smith is a very good clean romance.

message 14: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne You're welcome, Soph. I hope you enjoy them.

Suzanne: I haven't read Sarah Eden or Sherwood Smith, so I'll have to check them out, as well.

message 15: by Sophie (new)

Sophie Thanks both of you! I have been researching and looking for some other clean regency romances for me to read to make a change from Austen's (which I have read all anyway) and Heyers (which I am getting through ;)) :) but it is always best to hear it from someone! Thanks again!

message 16: by akoko (last edited Nov 13, 2012 07:52AM) (new)

akoko I thought after Austen and Heyer, there was nothing left worth reading. So I have not read any for a long time until recently I encountered a book called Sweet Revenge by Andrea Penrose by chance. This book can be categorized into the clean regency romances (not even a kiss). It rekindled my love for regency romances, yet she published only three books so far in this category (including one to be issued soon). This is why I am here to find other clean regencies to satisfy my renewed craving.
So I thank for the info. I will definitely look into them.

message 17: by Sophie (new)

Sophie :) not even a kiss wow. That really is clean. I like clean I.e. bedroom scenes but a kiss or 2 is nice IMO :)

message 18: by Cindy (new)

Cindy I really liked Mr. Malcolm's List!

message 19: by Sophie (new)

Sophie I was looking into Suzanne Allain :) I was lookin for another regency romances writer to read next (having just finished all of Amanda Grange's and loving them all!) you would recommend her then?

message 20: by G.G. (new)

G.G. Vandagriff Not to ring my own chimes, but my books are clean and romantic! In order: The Duke's Undoing, The Taming of Lady Kate, Miss Braithwaite's Secret, and Rescuing Rosalind. Another one to come before the end of the year.

message 21: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne Add them to the list then! :)

message 22: by G.G. (new)

G.G. Vandagriff I did!

message 23: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne Great! I didn't see them when I had glanced at it. I'll give them a try!

message 24: by Leslie (new)

Leslie Beauvallet is from a much earlier period!!

message 25: by Sophie (new)

Sophie How did I miss this? I will add yours to the list :) Thanks :)

message 26: by QNPoohBear (new)

QNPoohBear Any of the old books published by Walker are great and clean too. Some of the old Signet and Zebra books are really good and some other old paperbacks. Besides Jane Austen and Georgette Heyer, I love Clare Darcy, Marion Chesney, Barbara Metzger and Carola Dunn.

message 28: by akoko (last edited Oct 08, 2013 07:08PM) (new)

akoko I recently read and really liked the following books. I thought I would share...
-Miss Ware's Refusal by Marjorie Farrell
-Three Lords for Lady Anne by Charlotte Louise Dolan

message 29: by Shula (new)

Shula Mussnug I've read all of Charlotte Louise Dolan's books and love them. They are clean, with a few kisses.

message 30: by Tweety (new)

Tweety The Scarlet Pimpernel is great, but it's not regency... It's Georgian during the French Revolution.

message 31: by Polo (new)

Polo I see no addition after June 2014. Pl update this list. We really need one like this, so we could read stories with substance and content. And not waste our time on needless sex details and explicitly.

message 32: by QNPoohBear (new)

QNPoohBear The Proper Romance series is pretty good. They're not all Regencies but I just added the two I have read and enjoyed. Many of the authors newer books on this list have written other clean Regencies and of course there are the old Signet, Zebra, and Candlelight romances mostly all clean. I liked the Regencies originally published by Walker.

message 33: by Polo (new)

Polo QN: Thank you for responding. Please send me names of the Walker regencies. And do keep telling me the good books you come across. I am trying to build a library of "proper" books so I have and recommend books to others to read substance rather than trash.

message 34: by Booklovinglady (last edited Jan 19, 2017 10:47AM) (new)

Booklovinglady I love Georgette Heyer's novels, but wasn't Beauvallet (#75) set at a different time than the Regency period? I admit I'm not at all sure, as it has been quite a while since I've read it. There are some others (not Georgette Heyer ones) I'm not entirely sure about either, but like I said, it's been quite a while since I've read those books
