Cindy Hmmm.. 1984 never won a Nebula. They only started in 1965! Maybe a librarian can remove it?

message 2: by Phoenixfalls (last edited Nov 07, 2010 03:27PM) (new)

Phoenixfalls As far as I can tell, Stranger in a Strange Land, The Martian Chronicles, and Passage didn't win either.

message 3: by Lee (new)

Lee You have the wrong No enemy but Time listed. The Nebula winner is by Michael Bishop.

message 4: by Sarah (new)

Sarah I just added this year's winner, All Clear.

message 5: by Cindy (last edited May 24, 2012 04:51PM) (new)

Cindy I added the 2012 winner, Among Others.

I also deleted 1984 and Martian Chronicles since they are NOT Nebula winners. (They were published before the Nebula started in 1965.)

message 6: by Lee (new)

Lee Can't find Passage nor Among others in either of the Nebula Lists I have just checked.

Cheers
Lee

message 7: by Cindy (last edited May 27, 2012 07:10PM) (new)

Cindy Lee, as I mentioned, Among Others is the newest winner just announced last week: http://www.sfwa.org/nebula-awards/

message 8: by Lee (new)

Lee Sorry missed that. Point re Passage still stands.

Cheers
Lee

message 9: by Carter (new)

Carter #11 in my own voting or list would be: 'No Enemy But Time' by MICHAEL BISHOP, which won the Nebula after its 1982 publication, and has become a neglected, important novel. It could still strike a chord in any reader. The novel's illustration of the psychological costs of U.S. racism was fairly unique at the time, and proved the talent of Michael Bishop, a white author and professor living in Pine Mountain, GA (and nicer than almost anyone you could meet in the SF field). The novel's protagonist is a disaffected young baby-boom era African-American man, who, as an Army brat, grew up rootless. He dreams of prehistoric Africa. Air Force scientists carrying out a secret government experiment in Africa are able to send John Monegal, a.k.a. Joshua Kampa back in time to the Early Pleistocene era in Central Africa. Once there, he actually adapts and finds family and love.

message 10: by Mitchell (new)

Mitchell Passage by Connie Willis was a nomination for 2001 that did not win and I'm deleting it.

message 11: by Mitchell (new)

Mitchell No Enemy But Time by Michael Bishop was definitely one of the better nebula winners (in 1982) by my memory - removing the wrong copy of this book.

message 12: by Mitchell (new)

Mitchell Stranger in a Strange Land is a great book. But it was published in 1961. The first Nebula was in 1965 and was Dune. Removing Stranger in a Strange Land.

message 13: by Stig (new)

Stig Edvartsen 2312 by Kim Stanley Robinson just won best novel for 2012.

message 14: by Buzz H. (new)

Buzz H. I'm still amazed that C.J. Cherryh has never won a Nebula.

message 15: by Judy (last edited Dec 27, 2013 12:21PM) (new)

Judy If you have never read "Rite of Passage" by Panshin, it is worth trying to get your hands on a copy. I have a copy I might lend out if you have good references and credit history ;) Excellent coming of age story.

message 16: by Stig (new)

Stig Edvartsen Added Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie.

message 17: by Peter (new)

Peter Tillman Sawyer's The Terminal Experiment: worst of the Nebula-winning novels? I finished it, but barely. A solid "D."

message 18: by Stig (new)

Stig Edvartsen Added Uprooted (2015) and All the Birds in the Sky (2016)
