Susanna - Censored by GoodReads The form to add books is over to the right side of the page.

message 2: by Athena (new)

Athena Um...y is HP and the Deathly Hallows on here? It hasn't come out and isn't coming out soon.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads Yes, it is on this list. I see the first half is due out in November this year, so no one could have seen it yet.

So I shall remove it.

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

Some of these I own the movie and the book. Some of them I think I may have seen but not sure. Who was in The Color Purple? I am wondering if I saw it but not sure. I am not sure if I have seen the first Harry Potter as I tend to get them mixed up. I have only read 3 of those. Someday I will read them all.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads The Color Purple? 1985 Steven Spielberg movie with Whoopi Goldberg and Oprah. Though IMDB says a remake is under consideration.

Thanks Susanna. I was fairly sure it was Whoopi but not positive. I don't remember Oprah being in it at all. I think I need to read this book again and also see the movie again as I have mostly forgotten it.

message 7: by Erin (new)

Erin There are quite a few books on here that have no movie version yet.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads If you'll name them, I'll be happy to remove them.

message 9: by Erin (new)

Erin The Host by Stephenie Meyer. I’m going to argue that the Kung Fu Panda book is based on the movie, and so it doesn’t count, as is the Underworld: Rise of the Lycans book, the books about Monk are based on the TV show, and the Ice Age book is a coloring book.

message 10: by Henryetta (new)

Henryetta The Host by Stephie Meyer has NOT been made into a movie yet. Breaking Dawn by Stephie Meyer has NOT been made into a movie yet. Please take these off the list. Why do people add books to a list without reading what the list are about?

message 11: by Ðɑηηɑ (last edited Jun 02, 2011 11:20PM) (new)

Ðɑηηɑ This is a very good list, I like it. I guess some books were actually better than the movie, like Harry Potter series. I know some people who thinks the HP and all kind of action-fantasy genres are worse than the books, because it is hard to picture the scenes and creaturs only according to a couple of sentences which describes the creature or scene. But I think they are wrong, because this is what so perfect about books - they allow us to imagine whatever we like, at some certain borders (for example, I won't be imagining a flying two headed bird if the author says a little white fat cat who run faster than any other animal!).
By the way, did you know the name "Wendy" was the author's invention. Back at the time, no girl had the name Wendy, and none heard about it !

message 12: by Tamara (Nanny Ogg) (last edited Aug 12, 2011 06:11PM) (new)

Tamara (Nanny Ogg) Hobbit the movie is not out yet :P (and hopefully won't ever be)

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

Were all Ian Fleming books made into movies?

message 14: by Tyrone (new)

Tyrone Not all the stories were made into films, however most of the 'titles' have been used. A couple of the short stories are really quite odd and have almost no action which wouldn't make a film but the title has been used by a film.
For example Fleming's last book is Octopussy and the Living Daylights which contains four short stories...
The film Octopussy uses the background from the eponymous story and the plot of another from the same book, 'The Property of a Lady'.
Die another day for example is based on a novel already adapted, being a rehash of 'Moonraker'. The earlier adaptations are more faithful that the later 80's 90's adaptations.
Quantum of Solace is a Fleming short story title but bears no resemblance to the film, and elements of 'Bond in New York' the final short story from the 'Octopussy...' novel are used for the ending of that movie.

Actually The Hobbit has been made into a movie. I remember watching it when I was a kid. Cartoon version with singing.

Lol didn't know cartoons counted xD

message 17: by Pete (new)

Pete Monaghan I have been entering the differences between books and movies into this site: http://thatwasnotinthebook.com

There are so many and it is very, very hard to remember all the differences. There are only a hundred or so books entered thus far. Pretty cool. I always check for the differences after I read a book or see a movie when I haven't seen or read the other.

When I watch a movie based on a book I've read I find myself comparing them and noticing the glaring differences.

Oh Hollyweird.

message 18: by Nenangs (new)

Nenangs what about local books that was made into movies?
we have several such as those.

or is this list only for "international books - international movies"?

message 19: by Ðɑηηɑ (new)

Ðɑηηɑ You might want to consider that! There are great movies out there :)

message 20: by Julie (new)

Julie Several of the books on here are TV miniseries (Roots) or made for TV movies (My Sister's Keeper).

message 21: by [deleted user] (new)

Has anyone seen Vampire Academy? How is it?

message 22: by Moloch (new)

Moloch This list makes me realize how poor my movie knowledge is!

message 23: by Krbo (new)

Krbo just 100 votes from a list of almost 1400 is too small for us older readers (>50yrs)

I've run out of votes somewhere arround 1000th book...

nevertheless it was nice to remember some books/movies

I'm just glad I don't remember all of the movies I've seen, otherwise I too would have a problem of 'just' voting for no more than 100 titles ;-) I'm already at 82 votes at the moment, in spite of not remembering all the films anyway.... And I'm glad also it says 'both' in the description, because often it has been either the one or the other for me :-)

message 25: by Booklovinglady (last edited Aug 16, 2015 06:31AM) (new)

Booklovinglady By the way, I'm absolutely sure some of the titles I voted for I watched as a television series, not as a movie (either on television or in the cinema). But as they were already on the list, I voted for them anyway.

yeh, it was about 600 for me

I noticed the description of the Listopia has been adapted after my previous remark, as it now says (Please don't include television series or miniseries. Movies only. ). I've deleted some of my votes accordingly and am now at 68 :-)

I watched the excellent BBC television adaptations of several of Charles Dickens' books, for instance. Same goes for Middlemarch and Vanity Fair, by the way. But as I haven't seen the movies, I've deleted my votes.

Although I watched the four parts television series of Hoe duur was de suiker?, I believe there was a film too (but haven't voted for the book, as I haven't seen the film, just the television series).

Has Centennial (#1223) ever been made into a movie? I remember watching the extensive television series years ago, but I was wondering if the book had evern been made into a movie as well?
