Books You're Ashamed to Admit that You Read

Okay, everyone has some of those literary skeletons in their closet. Are there some books you keep off of your "read" list because they are too embarassing to own up to? Perhaps you read them back when you were young and foolish, maybe they were something someone with poor taste chose for your book club. Perhaps they were the only book available to read during a bout of extreme boredom. Who knows? Who really cares? You may have even secretly liked a few of these books. Promise, we won't tell anyone....

Sadistic I am ashamed to have read the whole twilight series. Back when I was young and foolish (er...a few years ago xD) and when Twilight had almost zero fans. I even dressed up for the release of Breaking dawn. :D I was a werewolf. My friend chickened out of wearing the make up, but I was a loud and proud werewolf! Plus I was Team Jacob, and everyone looked at me with disgust. Annoying stalker-perverted-sadist vampire lovers...

Now everyone loves Twilight, and I dislike it. Breaking Dawn was the worst out of the series. New Moon was my fave. <3 Eclipse was kind of... And Twilight was cheesy.

Emily O Why is someone ashamed of having read Kinsey's book Sexual Behavior in the Human Male? Kinsey is a great researcher and theorist and there is an entire institute of sex and gender named after him.
So what, were they afraid people might think they're gay or something? Shocking.

message 3: by Danna (new)

Danna So not ashamed to admit I have read Flowers in the Attic, why would I be? Same for The Kite Runner, although I have not read it yet, why would I ever read a book I'd be ashamed to admit? It's called guilty pleasure, but except for the The Twilight Saga I saw nothing wrong about it.

I'm never ashamed of what I've read, which is just as well, because I read just about anything, including books I was given (because people either liked or didn't like them, and wanted to see what I thought of it). It's with the given books that I can't always appreciate what I've read, as some turned out to be a real waste of my time. So, if anything, I guess it would be more a matter of being ashamed to have read it (because it turned out to be a waste of time), than being ashamed to admit I've read it :-)
