message 2: by Guistinna (new)

Guistinna wow, most vampires book and most of L.J. Smith's book!

message 3: by Amy (last edited Sep 19, 2009 08:51PM) (new)

Amy keep in mind that i mean no offense, this is just my opinion. none of these books should be turned in to movies or tv shows. not because their not good, but because in my opinion thats what went wrong with the sookie stackhouse series. it was almost as though some one went "yeah lets take this nice idea here roll it in dog poop, drag it down the basement stairs and slap it on film." so that people who actually read the books will want to throw up when they see it.
I love the sookie stackhouse series, much more than anita blake after book ten, they are both good in different ways. but to see even the bits of trueblood that people have posted on youtube is awful. except for maybe having that nice visual of eric northman.

message 4: by Claire (new)

Claire one of my most favorite books ever is kissed by an angel by elizabeth chandler and i would really like it to be turned into a movie. anyone else read it?

"

OMG! I TOTALLY AGREE W/ CLAIRE Kissed by an Angel IS A BEAUTIFUL, ROMANTIC, A LITTLE SUSPEND AND SAD BOOK, JUST FABULOUS. ONCE AGAIN, I TOTALLY AGREE IT SHOULD BE MADE INTO A MOVIE!!! =)

message 6: by Claire (new)

Claire yes thank u!! not many people have even heard of it. i just dont want some hollywood producer or writer to turn it into something thats not even like the book so hopefully if it does turn to a movie it'll get a good writer

message 7: by Guistinna (new)

Guistinna Claire wrote: "yes thank u!! not many people have even heard of it. i just dont want some hollywood producer or writer to turn it into something thats not even like the book so hopefully if it does turn to a movi..."

yup...most of the time when people try turning fabulous, #1 selling books into movie. you get all excited but when you really see it, it doesn't have that much detail there is in the book.
So all im saying is if they're going to turn (hopefully will) Kissed by an Angel into a movie it better be as good as the book!

message 8: by Claire (new)

Claire Yup, totally agree. Thanks for responding!

message 9: by Amy (new)

Amy i haven't read that book. ill look in to it.
however back to my gripe of said topic, i suppose if the writers who put their brain children out there, their books are chosen to be tv shows or movies, and they're not complaining than who am i to bitch? thats why we all are allowed our opinions some stink. some are sweet and some actually make a difference.

message 10: by Claire (new)

Claire Ya I know that there's more to a book becoming a great movie than just the story being good. Amy, you do have a good point, but I would still love it if that book would become a movie because the story really impacted me.

message 11: by Aretha (new)

Aretha Renia That's what happened to Twilight, too. The books were really good, and then that first movie... UGH!! It was really a diappointment.

message 12: by Claire (new)

Claire Aretha wrote: "That's what happened to Twilight, too. The books were really good, and then that first movie... UGH!! It was really a diappointment."

ya it could have been a lot better

message 13: by Anne (new)

Anne Briefly looked through the list...Timeline by Michael Crichton was already made into a movie back in 2003.

It's hard to actually want to see a book as a movie, most of the time they do turn out to be disappointments. I'd rather just stick witht he originals (books) and leave Hollywood come up with their own stories.

message 14: by Ananya (new)

Ananya I would love to see my favorite characters from a book on action on tv...but the thing is that these movie/tv writers and dirrectors spoil the true essence of the book just trying to make it saucy and attract attention just what they did with twilight....the whole book was turned so ugly on screen with dumb faces trying to play Bella & Edward.

message 15: by Amara (last edited Mar 20, 2012 09:11PM) (new)

Amara Tanith Removed for already being movies:
The Hunger Games (released 2012)
Water for Elephants (released 2011)
The Lightning Thief (released 2010)
The BFG (released 1989)
Timeline (released 2003)
Because of Winn-Dixie (released 2005)
Holes (released 2003)
The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (released 2011)
Beastly (released 2011)
I am Number Four (released 2011)
Bridge to Terabithia (released 2007)
Flipped (released 2010)

(Though these don't belong on this list, they have been or can be added to this list if you think they should be made into better movies.)

message 16: by Fone (new)

Fone Bone most of the top books are already going to be movies like the mortal instruments, the host and also I heard of rumours of the vampire academy coming to the screens

message 17: by ╟ ♫ Tima ♪ ╣ ♥ (last edited Jun 06, 2012 12:04AM) (new)

╟ ♫ Tima ♪ ╣ ♥ Removed for already being a movie:

One for the Money (released 2012)
Flowers in the Attic (released 1987)
I also removed 415, which was a duplicate of Flowers in the Attic
Go Ask Alice (released 1979)
Pride & Prejudiced (TV release, 1995 - movie, 2005)
Pretty Little Liars (TV release 2010)

I left 'Girl Who Played with Fire' but it was released as a movie in 2009 in Denmark and is filming in the US. Would you like it to stay or be removed?

Same with World War Z which has a release date of 2013 with Brad Pitt. Keep or remove? :)

message 18: by Laura (last edited Aug 26, 2012 10:48AM) (new)

Laura Took off:

The Secret Circle
The Vampire Diaries
Sookie Sackhouse
Girl Who Played with Fire(it's out now)

I'm surprised that The Vampire Diaries was on here still; it's on season 4 already.

message 19: by Novie Chryss (new)

Novie Chryss Uhhmm, some of the books on this list is really gonna be a movie. Like VA.. Vampire Academy is going to be a movie. It's official. It was announced recently and it will come out February next year! And Mockingjay too is now on production. Yay! :D And, The Host too! And it will be released next month. :)

And as for Something Borrowed, it's already a movie released last 2011.

message 20: by Rae (new)

Rae Daybreak13 wrote: "u no the vampire academy books are already a tv show but idk wut its called i used to watch it all the time then not that long ago i read the books and i new ive seen the stuff in the books in some..."

Vampire Dairies is a TV show based off the books. Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead is becoming a movie that is schedule to come out in Febuary 2014.

message 21: by Joyce (new)

Joyce Henderson I would love to see "A house in the Sky " by Amanda Lindhout made in to a movie...that is, if it was done properly and truthfully, which it seems Hollywood has a hard time doing.

message 22: by Felicia (new)

Felicia Wicked Lovely should definitely be made into a tv series. I could imagine a good 5 or 6 years in the world of faery folk!

message 23: by Nab (new)

Nab Fransis Holy crap: yoga time! Is classic yoga a part of civilized life? Who says “Yes”? No! This sort of yoga is not on the side of The Good. Even more: original yoga is something sponsored by The Devil itself. Am I missing something? Even our domestic yoga gym exercises could harm unprotected soul, but what about the things shown in “Yoga Time” comics? Just to be touched by someone, that kind of knowledge could push a weak spirit into a hole of dark power.
Alex Letner, the author.
His graphics? They are appropriately explicit and too much naturalistic, which is not good. Human bodies are shown unnecessary sculptural and full of ugly motion.
Hell, his humor! His humor is charged with harmful power, no respect to no one, to nothing. There is a little to laugh in there but plenty of motives to cry.
I do nor recommend this “art” to anybody. This story is not a good read. Be careful, do not open this Jumanjy.

message 24: by Sam (last edited Sep 24, 2022 09:51AM) (new)

Sam I think Code to Zero is definitely going to make an exciting TV series on TNT or AMC or USA or perhaps even Showtime. I can easily see my favorite actors taking part in the series and it stays true to the book as well with some of the best production values. It will definitely win an Emmy and have high ratings.

message 25: by Sam (last edited Sep 24, 2022 09:49AM) (new)

Sam The first four bestsellers of Tom Clancy--Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games, Clear and Present Danger, Sum of All Fears, you all know what titles I mean--have all been made into very popular and successful films, and so has Without Remorse most recently, and the Jack Ryan TV show is very popular and successful as well, but the other Jack Ryan technothrillers, such as Cardinal of Kremlin, Debt of Honor, Executive Orders, Rainbow Six, Bear and Dragon, Red Rabbit, Teeth of Tiger (again, you know what I mean), these all ought to be made into movies too, don't you think so? And speaking of Rainbow Six, there was going to be a film adaptation five years ago, but nothing has come of it ever since.
