message 1: by Greyweather (new)

Greyweather I love Territory, but Emma Bull is already writing the sequel, Claim, so it is part of a series.

Graceling is also the first book in a series, with Fire and Bitterblue the next two books in the series.

message 2: by Alexandra (last edited Mar 23, 2009 05:52PM) (new)

Alexandra LOVE Half Magic, but it is part of a series. The other books are Knight's Castle, Magic By The Lake, The Time Garden.

message 3: by Adam (new)

Adam graceling has one companion, and another coming out soon.

message 4: by Reed (new)

Reed Fire and Bitterblue right?

message 5: by Reed (new)

Reed i dont see why its up here if there are 2 books after it even though it's a great book.

Technically, the other books were companions to The Giver.

message 8: by Xenophon (last edited Dec 12, 2010 09:21PM) (new)

Xenophon Hendrix Should Anansi Boys be considered a sequel to American Gods? The books are just tangentially related and are much different in scope, but they do share at least one character.

On the other hand, the character that's shared is an African god, so one could argue that both novels are merely making use of the same religious figure.

I don't think sharing one character counts as a sequel as long as the plot is different.

Right. "Companion" novels. AKA sequels, prequels, concurrent books. They're series...

message 11: by Alessandra (new)

Alessandra Looks like these are all parts of series:
"The 13½ Lives of Captain Bluebear (Zamonia, #1)"
"The Sight (Sight, #1)"
"Princess Academy (Princess Academy, #1)"
"The City of Dreaming Books (Dreaming Books, #1) (Zamonia, #4)"
"The Adoration of Jenna Fox (Jenna Fox Chronicles, #1)"
"Tantalize (Tantalize, #1)"
"Eternal (Tantalize, #2)"
"Sorcery and Cecelia or The Enchanted Chocolate Pot (Cecelia and Kate, #1)"

Also "The New York Times - Special Edition - Saturday, July 4th, 2009
by The New York Times Company " does not belong here at all.

Susanna - Censored by GoodReads Yeah, I'll get those.

message 13: by Rosanna (new)

Rosanna Warbreaker and elantris are no longer standalones. Great books BTW

Marmalade & Magic Some of these are part of a series...

message 16: by Kevin (new)

Kevin Han wrote: "Some of these are part of a series..."

Yeah, but some of those series really aren't a continuing story.

message 17: by Jain (new)

Jain Deleted The Watchmaker of Filigree Street, which now has a sequel.
